I CANT SEE THE LH MANIFOLD DATE BUT IT SEEMS TO MATCH. STEERING GEAR BOX IS FACTORY (HCC-AW). THIS IS A GT ONLY 16:1 STEERING BOX UNLESS YOU HAVE A K CODE. SINGLE BOWL FACTORY DISK BRAKES STILL ON THE CAR. CALIPERS ARE IN THE TRUNK. I PULLED THE REAR SEAT SO YOU CAN SEE THE FACTORY DUAL EXHAUST BRACKETS WHICH WOULD ONLY BE ON AN "A" OR "K" CODE. THE CAR STARTED IN CLEVELAND THEN SPENT MANY YEARS AN ALASKA AND FINALLY ENDED UP IN WASHINGTON STATE IN 1988. SHE HAS BEEN STORED UNDER COVER FOR 15 YEARS SINCE SHE WAS LAST ON THE ROAD.

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL SHEET METAL CAR! ONLY THE PASSENGER FENDER WAS CHANGED AFTER A SMALL FENDER BENDER MANY YEARS AGO (STILL SOME SMALL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT TORQUE BOX, SEE PIC). EVERY PANEL SHOWS EVIDENCE ON SILVER FROST PAINT UNDER DARK GREEN AND RED. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO HISTORY OF METAL REPAIR OR PATCH REPLACEMENT. IT WILL NEED SOME RUST REPAIR. THE FACTORY K CODE REAR END HAD THE SNUBBER ATTATCHED TO THE 3RD MEMBER AND A HEAVY DUTY PLATE MOUNTED TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. ALL OTHER MUSTANGS HAD A SNUBBER MOUNTED DIRECTLY TO THE FLOOR WITH A DIFFERENT BRACKET. YOU CANNOT GET THE FACTORY K CODE SNUBBER BRACKETS UNLESS YOU CUT THEM OFF AN OLD K CODE (HUGE $$). THIS CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL K CODE SNUBBER PLATE INTACT AND IN NICE SHAPE! (SEE PIC)

I am proud to offer a no reserve auction for this 1965 Mustang K Code Hipo 2+2 Fastback that was originally silver smoke grey metallic exterior, black standard interior, 289 Hipo with 4 speed transmission. Car was built Dec 29, 1964. This is a 2 owner car. I have the title from previous owner showing 96455 miles when he purchased the car in 1987. The previous owner began to restore the car before I came across it. It now has a built 302 engine and C6 automatic transmission.The 302 engine runs with no noise and no smoke. The C6 transmisson shifts great! It has p/s, a/c, 4 wheel disc brakes, and 9 inch rear end. The engine is balanced with 30 over pistons, high lift cam, heads ported and flowed with intake 1.90, 2.02 valves, screw in studs, and roller rockers. It was built a few years ago and has approx. 400 miles on engine. 4 wheel disc brakes are newly built, but been on the car for a little while. The interior is almost all original, and needs seats, dashpad and carpet replaced if intended to be a show car . All other interior is in great condition. The a/c compressor and lines are new and needs lines fitted to the compressor. It has an electric fan. This is a factory 4 speed K code car, and it needs some paint work, but is an excellent driver that will provide many years of Mustang driving enjoyment. The body needs two small dents repaired. one on driver fender and one on passenger door. Then the car just needs fresh paint and new chrome to be a show car. It has a new set of 15x7 triple dip chrome wheels and new BF Goodrich 215/60/15 tires. It really is a pleasure to drive. Had new quarters replaced about 10 years ago, and the seams were showing age so the passanger side quarter has been took down to metal, treated and recently refinished with fresh epoxy. This car is a daily driver or a show and go car. This car is definitely a head turner. It also has the floor console with the a stock shifter. All gauges, lights, including the interior courtesy lights work. The speedo works too, off just a little. The radio doesn't play. Both doors and front fenders are solid inside and out. The floors have had some minor repairs done to them but they are still the original floors. The frame rails are very good, both front and rear. The vin #'s are still in the left front apron and also on the door data tag. This a good car and still has room for improvement. But obviously not a rust bucket. Get yourself a fastback that won't break your wallet! Hard to find a factory K code car for this $$$$. It has rear quarter windows which only a few were produced prior to these cars being made into 350 or 350H's. Here is a 1965 Mustang 2+2 FASTBACK that can restored as a tribute to the 1965 GT 350 350H.

Thanks for the photo, yes that is what they look like. Why do they have a C5AZ part number then? Wouldn't they have a C6 or C7 part number for a 67-8?

I recently purchased some nos door striker plates in sealed factory wrappers from an e-bay vender. They were advertised as original plates for a 65 mustang. The part that sticks out that the door latch would close around is more oval shaped (like a football), and the ones on my car are more round. Part number for the new nos ones are

C5AZ-6222008-A Are these the right ones for a 65 mustang?

1966 was the last year Ford offered the original Mustang Fastback. Although the Mustang had a stellar year in sales, the Fastback experienced a 50-percent decrease in sales over the previous model year. In all, about 35,000 Mustang Fastbacks were produced in 1966, making this model highly sought after by Mustang collectors.

In 1966, the Fastback featured a redesigned grille, new instrument cluster, and new styled wheels. An automatic transmission became available for the “Hi-Po” V8. Side scoops were absent on the GT model, making for a cleaner look, while driving lamps were offered as standard equipment. In addition, the GT featured side racing stripes which took the place of chrome rocker panels, giving the vehicle a serious performance racing look. 1966 was also the first year Mustang featured standard backup lights.

One of the most distinct features of the 1966 Fastback Mustang is the car’s exit vents which work with the vehicle’s fully-functional silent-flo interior ventilation system. The car also came with an AM radio.

1965 Ford Mustang Coupe orig high performance 289 K code. approx 1 percent production were factory 289 high performance "K" equiped. body numbers match door tag fact 9 inch rear end (tapered tubes) early GT optioned car (march 65) 3.50 open rear-now traction loc factory black ext/ blk std int.- new carpet 8k rallye pac- one pic shows it's working! 4 speed trans 1" sway bar and Flaming River steering box. (better response than the fact steering box) Engine details - later 289 block. correct hipo heads (dated dec/64)-solid lifters, correct cast iron intake, hipo fan,fomoco hipo dist(pertronix installed) correct wide hipo c5 harmonic balancer, hipo exh manifolds. new 3 core rad/shroud. autolite 4v carb stamped c4of-al (early hipo carb) eng bay all correct except for the later production 289 eng block- I believe 6K18- (oct/66) oil pan has some dents-will include a gold painted 289 pan. engine fires up right away- no smoke, no drips at all, adjusted lifters earlier this year- lifter gallery clean as a whistle. when I purchased car it had a silver electric choke carb installed (holley I think) hipo carb was included. holley ran better but I didn't like the non factory look so I put on the orig style hipo carb (idles high and a bit balky) will include holley. Body condition- paint still shines -some scratches here and there (driver quality plus) still holds it's own at the shows! call it a 10 footer!. rear floor pan professionaly installed 2007 new carpet set installed at that time. front pans still fine. rear qtrs untouched -rear frame rails great( dual exh gussets there) torque boxes good -trunk all orig condition. no evidence of patches in qtrs or drop offs. fact disc brakes with orig proportioning valve- new rear cylinders - reproduction 65 styled steel wheels red glass pack mufflers- unique sound! (cherry bombs I think) passed gov't safety check - car listed in the hipo registry previous owner bought car in texas -drove home to california where car resided from late 80's to 2006 (late '06 when I bought it) shipping is sole responsibility of winning bidder. to be shipped from sumas wa. 98295 if usa bound reasonable reserve as is condition good luck
