I've used Dynomax before, have a nice agressive tone but no resonation issue (droning) like the 2 chamber Flowmasters. The Dynomax also looks more like a stock muffler. I have the repro exhaust on my Kar because I like the subtle tone it has.

I think Summit still sells the tool to crimp the connectors and may even sell the connectors. It think they still sell the fit your own spark plug wire kits.

Thanks again for your help today Larry, and thanks for showing your toys.

I've had two different sets, one from about 20+ yrs ago and a brand new Marti set. They both seem slightly too long. I've noticed that the earlier set has larger lettering than the Marti set and the coil cap is different (the older one was vertical, the Marti one was horizontal). If you look in the Skrap book you can see pictures of the older set.

Sounds like a good excuse to take her for a ride, what time and where are you at? I was at the University Dr. Courthouse Tuesday for jury duty and it was only about 20 min away.

Here's what might be a dumb question, can the mechanical advance stick. Kar was run very infrequently the last few years. I checked the timing on my Kar and its showing approx 16 degrees advanced, car runs fine with no pinging, I didn't check total yet what should it be? Dwell is spot on. Damper rubber looks good but thats no guarantee. Is there a way to check the advance mech or to determine TDC without tearing the thing apart. I should know this but its been a while since playing with the original Mustangs, I've mostly been playing with the Fox body cars lately.

Is the crossmember in place underneath, might want to check the measurement between the shock towers I've seen them move in before from rust or accident damage. I know it wouldn't be stock but I saw an article in Mustang monthly about adjustable engine mounts for the early Mustangs that might help.

Metuchen Koupe built 4 April 1966 I would say the jack is a course thread and the only mark I can find is an A on top
-
My father was the original owner of my 66 Koupe, do you want a photo of the jack I know its the original one and its no problem at all if it will help.

Thank you much!

I have a question, the manual calls for Dp-6 points, service points still available are DP-12 which cross to all the 289's and most other V8's so I assume they're equivelent to DP-5's. I think the only difference is the spring pressure. Are these ok to use, what does everybody else use. I like to drive it and she might see an occasional trip to the drags, I wouldn't think there would be any difference until High RPM's. Thanks

I have a 66 Metuchen K code (april 66) that came original with a gold base not blue. Its been in the family since new.
-
My April 66 Metuchen K coupe was ordered new with undercoating ($23)but unsure if this was dealer or factory installed (I would suspect dealer) Its really thick and hard and covers everything but the suspension. Was ordered March 15 and delivered April 6 they were really pumping them out fast!

Only if you're not doing your job right
I'm always up for exploring a junkyard. We still need to pick a time to get together with the Kars, I'm up for any Sat, but it could always change if my contractor wants to work on a Sat. -
I'm jealous you went to BJ hope to make it someday. Larry have you checked out CTC auto ranch yet? Thinking about checking it out, love to prowl old junkyards.

Yes, there is a specific holddown plate for the styled steel wheel. Here is a pic of an original setup hope it helps.

That why I moved to Texas from Jersey!

Here are some pics of "Muskie" showing the finished product in 1986 and some pics of her today. The motor is still running strong with 117,500 miles on it, she drives absolutely perfect. Except for the upper A arms, idler arm, water pump, timing chain, oil pump, clutch and two U joints the rest of the mechanicals are 100% original (it does need upper ball joints again). The interior is still 100% original (some split seams finally in the driver seat) The paint is still mostly original (well maybe 60%) and shines nicely.
1986 finally done!
Today a little dirty but raring to go! (I promise it has Texas tags now)
Leaving Jersey heading to Texas! (Thanks Amos!)
I got a little carried away, but its easy I grew up in this car!

I've started putting pictures in the sKrap book!

Here are some pics of "Muskie" as my Dad called her.
These pics start when she was 6 months old and end in the early 80's before we cleaned her up and performed some overdue maintenance. She was a daily driver from new till about 1973. From 73 to 79 she was a weekend driver and was shown for the first time in 1977 at a local sports car show where she took second in novice. In 1979 she was parked outside for the first time and not driven much until 1984 when she was brought back inside to be cleaned up, some minor rust repaired, and refurbished while preserving as much original as we could. This work lead to a 2nd place at the Betsy Ross MCA National show in Concours Street Driven. Shes been handed down to me and future plans call for keeping her preserved as best as possible and driving her.
October 1966, 6 months old! (was delivered with no trim rings!)
Summer 1983 (coming out of retirement)
Engine compartment 1983
Engine Internals @ 113,000 miles
(Engine was not rebuilt and still runs fine)
Process of cleaning up she still wears that paint!
The "book" every mile and repair is in here!
