Hello Terry, any luck on getting a HIPO radiator? I am keeping my eyes open for you one. Email me the date code again and how much you will pay so I have an idea.

There is no such thing as a "hipo" radiator.

Well, I saw a total of 3 K's at the show (including mine). From the forum I believe we had 2 K's, mine and Gary's. There was a special paint 66 there with auto tranny that I never could find the owner of. Didn't write down the VIN and don't remember if I took a pic of it until I get a chance to go through my pictures. Pretty dismal K turnout...

Harvey, it was great meeting you and your Shelby. Hope you got some gas in the beast and got it on the trailer ok!

I learned that artificial lighting sure does show every little flaw in your paint! Was nice being in A/C and out of the rain though...

Wow, only one forum member besides myself taking a K to the grand? I'm disappointed...

Heading out Thursday AM, plan on rolling into Augusta mid afternoon Friday. No internet access till I get back sometime late Monday night.

Hope there are more K's there than responses to this thread, lol.

Look me up and introduce yourself if you do make the show...

The hipo flywheel is slightly different the standard 289 flywheel in that it has a different imbalance and most carried a brinnel test. The casting numbers mentioned are not specific to the hipo engine, the imbalance is. Do an advanced search on "flywheel" and include archived posts and you will find several discussions on a hipo flywheel.

I've seen the stamping on various sheet metal over the years, mostly on hvac ductwork but also on electrical equipment enclosures and boxes. As you stated the stamping generally was every 4', I think the chances of ever seeing the stamp on the visible portion of an original gas tank would be slim. I guess it would be a nice touch for a restoration but personally it's the last thing I would be trying to duplicate.

Me, I'm more interested in getting my original 4120S fuel pump rebuilt, lol...

if you purchase the scott drake low profile rally pac it does require a wire to run to the negative side of the ignition coil in the engine compartment. this is not so good for concourse but excellent if you have an aftermarket electronic ignition..

Ok, now I'm confused. You are saying the scott drake pacs require a wire run to the coil where everyone else is saying they plug into the factory harness. Is yours one of the old repros or the later ones? I'm not in the market since I have my original pac in the car, just asking for future reference....

The one I got from NPD hooked up under the dash in the resistance wire circuit, not to the coil direct. It surprised me because one other car has the tach-coil wire requirement.

That is how the originals connected. You will fry the tach if it is not connected through the resistor.

well imo you answered your own question when you said 'correctly restored kar'. i would use the tape stripes.

I would have to agree with Fred. I debated the same options when doing my kar and ended up doing the tape and am not the least bit disappointed. If you paint them you better make dang sure they are right the first time...

Scott, good to see you join us here. Thanks for the compliments on my kar at Springfield!

As for the steering wheel I have yet to see a repro that even comes close to an original. Neither the woodgrain (most look like GREEN wood and the grain is over emphasized), the brushed spokes are also too "grainy". I believe most I've seen are KLH wheels. Would you care to share which manufacturers you carry? Any way you can post a couple high resolution pics somewhere of the wheel that would pass most judges scrutiny and link to them here? My original wheel is very nice yet but I'm having an issue with the repaired cracks becoming cracks again, mostly due to my body shop pushing and pulling the car around the shop by the steering wheel which created even more cracks than the normal three. Grrrrrrrrrrr (insert cuss words here).... Anyway, I'm debating on going the restoration route on the wheel again or buying a repro. Don't want to have to put either one of us through the hassle of shipping back something I'm not happy with.

    Thanks
