Looking for a timeing chain cover C40E-6059A and water pump (non hipo OK) C5AE-8505-C can be good core. Looking for Aug/Sept 64 but any non cracked parts will do. Also looking for early Sept 64 non HI-po heads or exhaust manifolds if you have some laying arround and want to get rid of them.

Every Shelby built in 1966 started out as a k code 4 speed fastback like this one but this one remained the original.
Gratz to all you almost shelby owners! With that logic I guess my C code was almost a K code, they both have 289's in them!

Hope he added some reinforcements to the frame or you could be watching your front end drive off with-out you. That is after is snaps in half.

I ran into this same problem. I had my original to compare it to. So I fist used the power steering pump blue spray bomb (the one from Johns Mustang). IT was too light but did a good job for a base coat. Next I darkened it up with the 65 grill color (Omni Park brand)however it was way to blue. I got some Rust Oleum industral gray and misted it over the grill to gray it up. (held can 12 inches away and went over it fast) It worked wonderfuly. Took 2 passes to get it where i liked it. Is it 100%? No, but it is above 95% and considering color batch varations, original faded over 40 years ect...close enough. I taped up the tabs and brace supports as they are black.

The handle and knob are just the stock handle and knob so any good mustang supplier can provide you this. This set up is giving you the hurst linkage and stuff with a stock handle.
I called to get everything but the handle as I have the early 64 style shifter.

Marti auto makes them. You will need to supply all the info. FYI he takes a while to get this back to you. I think they are $35. I had one made for my car and it was dead on. You will need to know date code and the rest kinda falls into place from there.
PS Bob's book is a good place or ask the people here if they have theirs.

sixfiveGT oh did not see the gray/black tag thing. My dead 65 Metuchen hardtop had a gray tag(had the G). The under-resto 65 fastback Dearborn has the black tag.
