thanks for the suggestions, i am probably going to run headers in the car when the time comes to pu the motor in. So the damper, couterweight, rods, pisotns, are the main caps important? i dont want to try and make a true clone, just an engine that peroforms/ sounds like a true hipo. any suggestions appreciated.

thanks for the advise. what needs to be done to the heads to convert them. is it just taping for the screw in rocker mounts? anything else

what other parts should i make sure to get for the conversion. i am not worried about being exact. but other than the cam, what other parts really make it work. rods? pistons? main caps? damper weight?

Hi guys, my name is joe. My father has a 1966 mustang convertible that we are restoring. I am going to build a motor out of a 1967 289 4 barrel (a code) the non hipo 4 barrell. I would like to make a hipo clone out of it though. already picked up a 1.12 autolite 4100 that i am going ot have pony carbs rebuild. I am here to ask some advise, find some parts, just help make the motor what we want. I was thinking instead of an exact clone, just start from a close to if not original hipo cam and build from there with a proper carb/ some nice heads, maybe aftermarket, or just a port job on the factory 67 heads. a nice aluminum intake. and so on. so hopefully from what i read, this site will help a lot

    thanks
