205/70 x 14's will give you an overall diameter close to the original. I think that this size looks nice on a 65-66 car. The BFG Radial TA with the raised white letters is a great looking tire with the Magnum 500's.

To get a similar diameter in a 60 series tire, you would have to go with a 235/60 x 14.

The sizes that you mentioned would have a small overall diameter (tire would be too "short" looking in my opinion.)

Does anyone have the information and/or picture of their original rear end tag? I'm particularly interested in Aug. '64 production Dearborn cars, but I think all would be helpful.

Maybe if you could post center section and pinion retainer casting date along with info. or picture of tag.

Also, I was wondering what the typical "9xx" series code was on most tags. Is it 901? That is what I have seen on 8 inch Mustang rear end tags from this time. I'm not sure if it is the same on the 9 inch or not.

I would say it would be a very close call on your car as to the "C" or the "H" pulley. I know about the April 1st date, but I've seen some later cars (after 4/1) that had "C" pulleys that may have been original-can't say 100% though.

Some of the old magazines with road test articles have car(s) with these 15" wheels/tires. I don't have any here right now, so I'm not sure of magazine names and dates.

I agree. It certainly sounds like a small size, especially considering that the GT-350's came with 7.75 x 15 size Blue Dots.

I'm just going by the pictures. It sure does look like 5.50/5.90 - 15 on the side of the tire.

The only early HiPo that I have seen with the original 15" wheels is the very early (prototype?) car in the Motor Trend (or Road and Track?) road test article in 1964. The tires on that particular car were Firestone Super Sports in the 5.50/5.90 x 15 size. They were blackwall tires with the "Firestone" in small white letters.

I always wondered if any early HiPo cars were out there that were originally equipped with these wheels. Sounds like an interesting car you have, GT-350. I would love to see pictures also. I'm certainly not doubting the originality of the wheels, but I would be curious if there is any original paper work on the car showing these wheels for this car or anyone's car here. I would love to see that also.

We now handle the Dupli-Color DE 1606. We used to handle VHT-sorry, the image on the web site is not updated yet. The correct VHT number is SP 138 "New Ford Blue." You definitely cannot go by the name that the company calls it.

The Dupli-Color and VHT are very similar, but I like the Dupli-Color just a little better. They are both owned by the same company now.
