Mike, I did not post this response in the "For Sale" category. You posted the car in the "Pricing Discussion" category...a double post. THAT is where I posted. I would never hijack someones for sale ad. It seems the MODERATOR edited the post and put them here, so please take it up with them.

My candor is the result of this...a double post in which you posted the price of $53,000 and $58,000 Two different prices in the same website!

Wrong Paint, Wrong top, wrong interior....yes, that is severe. It will cost someone $15,000 to refinish the car properly. I would call that severe modification.

I paid about $5000 for my new Weber set-up from inglese injection. Everything was brand new and set up based on my engine, rear gears and cam. They are extremly helpful and set the system up based on your specific engine, trans and gear combo.

More tuning than an electric choke Holley, but certainly not impossible. Opening the hood with Webers is hard to descibe. You will not regret it. If I build another car for myself, it WILL have the same IDA setup.

Since you poeted this in the price discussion section, I will comment.

NADA is garbage...so that number is irrelevant.

While your car sounds nice, in todays stressed market, a severly modifed K code will bring much less than a properly restored K car in it's original factory combination.

Without documentation...forget trying to represent 27K original miles. Buyers are far more savvy today...especially on a rare auto.

    Non-GT cars bring 20% less than GT's...

Probably closer to the 30-40 range.

I did a GT-350 clone a couple years ago with a stock K code engine, and a new Inglese Weber set-up. Pure eye candy and excitement when you start the engine up. Supercharger may have more power, but it is no match for the sensory overload of weber set-up.

Fresh from the farms of Wisconsin.....

    66 K code, Non-GT, Automatic Fastback.

Needs extensive and complete restoration. Lots of Metal work needed.

    No engine

    No trans

AX steering box still in place

3.50 open 9 inch rear end still in place.

Lots of original chalk marks have been preserved.

    Off the Road for eons.

    $4750

I like these stories. I get them all time and find that Chevy guys get some neat Ford stuff, Mopar guys get neat brand "X" stuff. And they are so into their niche or brand, that they practically give the stuff away...as if their garage is tainted by a NOS Ford box lying in the corner. I love it.

I go through so many parts like you mention it gets crazy trying or even thinking about keeping them. I throw away a lot, but it is kind of weird. Lately I just post the items on Craigslist or eBay and take whatever I get. you would be surprised at the parts people buy...stuff I would throw away, I actually get paid for.

A complete, rust free K code fastback with the correct engine and transmission is valuable.

When you say "All there" I will assume for my value that it has the correct numbered parts including dist. carb etc.

    $20,000 give or take.

I am humbled. I am 36...I should have followed through with joining the ROTC program at UW Madison. Always a dream to be a jet pilot. Air Force runs in the family. Thank you for sharing and we are glad you have a perfect record...wow. I always wonder how my life would be different.

As we watch this car get bid up, it should answer the questions about the unrestored Red K convertible that just ended 2 unsuccessful listings.

Without the GT package, these K converts do not do a whole lot. This one will probably top out under 40K, and not sell.

The insurance companies are not "looking out" for your best interest. Their actuaries look at past claims and make predictions based on historical loss. Very few classics are driven much, and some never leave the garage. The higher they insure it for, the more they get in premium.

The OP was asking about a value. To me, value is what someone (The market) is willing to pay....not a bogus appraisal...or inflated NADA numbers.

Car sounds like a very nice car and the OP certainly has plenty of equity.

Cars come up for sale all the time. There was just a real nice Green GT fastback on sale here....I think it ended up going for around 38K maybe a little less. The market is weak. When I see 67 Shelbys barely get into the 70K range....the same cars that brought $120 just a year ago...it tells me the market continues to correct.

You know how many times I hear: "Yeah, a local guys been after it...I just turned down...$XXXX (which is usually about 5000-10000 more than the car is worth)...

Then a month later I buy the car for less than what I would have paid.

Neat car, should be able to buy that one under $20.
