    I have Access to Ecoat. aslong as the Manufacturing Facility Stays in Business, Actually its pretty cheap, you can get bulk parts ecoated aslong as their clean of rust for about 150 bucks, it doesn't matter how many pounds you bring, this includes top frames, pully's bumper brackets etc. I gave some little items to ppg and they confirmed they were ecoat. just reciently I got an nos oil filler cap, and its ecoat. Convertible top Frames work great durring ecoating. Somehow their bushings survive 400 degreas. if you run a seat track through the coat process with out taking the track apart the bushing melt. so Top Frames must have been assembled before plating as the bushings survive. I have been ecoating stuff for along time. On the engine compartment like some of the underside of mustangs it could of been hot wax. as you can sometimes notice on undrestored cars you can scrape the bottom of the floor pan with your finger and its somewhat not durabale or if you remove the front sway bar and the original paint is still their its easy to scrap.     No over spray where? If you're referring to the outer inner fender/firewall area, then you must not have read that this is a San Jose car.

    These plates came on all dual exhaust cars no matter K or A code or for that matter all the way upto a boss 302, mach1 the early dual exhaust plate was smaller as stated in the pictue san jose- those are the early plates seen on san jose, dearborn, or metuchin cars. the later style goes thru 70


    Yes the plate I had cnc machined is made from an original 69 mach1 dual exhaust plate

    I can get these made exact both the early plate and the later plate all 65/66 GT's K Codes and all dual exhaust Cars upto the 70 boss 302, Mach1 etc have the same plate. If we can get enough interest on these the mold to get them made up cost about 2k and then about 75 bucks a punch. They current one I have is cnc machined and then welded

    I received an email from Charlie Schlund (don't know if he is a member here or not) asking if a K-code display was being planned for the 45th Mustang Anniversary Celebration in Birmingham, similiar to the one I organized in Nashville at th 40th, in 2004. This was my response:


    None currently unless someone wants to take the lead. I organized the display in Nashville, but as Executive Director of the 45th I can't devote the time and coordination required to set it up. We were restricted for space in Nashville and that will not be the case at Barber. Here are the requirements that I have placed on all speciality groups displays:


    Must be at least 25 cars (I'll lower that to 15 for the K-codes)

    Must be pre-registered (registration ends March 31st, 2009)

    Provide list of participants names and registration numbers to me no later than April 7, 2009 (7 days after registration closes)

    All speciality group parking will be on the grass in the "Fan Zone" adjacent to the track straight away. This will be your assigned parking area for the entire event.


    If anyone on the forum would like to put this together and do the necessary coordination with the participants, Please respond direct to me, Steve Prewitt, gtpony94@aol.com. I can also be reached at 706-860-4535 in the evening between 6 and 9 pm EST.

    In the world of classic Mustangs, how rare are K code cars compared to other categories of Mustangs, ie Boss 302's, Boss 429's, Mach 1 big blocks, Shelby's, etc?

    I would guess Boss 429's are the rarest, followed by either Boss 302's or Shelby GT 350's? In a ranking of all the types, just wondering where K codes fit in.

    The most rare cars are the Pre-Production Mustangs only a handful exist that were made in 1964 ,67,and 69


    and then a non rebody 64 1/2 K vert would have to rank up their very high as well

    Its a rebody! plus the dates are way off and it was poppy red orginally no brackets in the frame rails, choke hole to small, vin restamped on apron, snubber plate on body incorrect typical 6 cylinder one.

Gorgeous condition, matching numbers car from California with only 57,793 miles!! The original solid lifter 289/271 horse engine has no modifications from factory stock and is still fitted with the correct dual-point distributor, correct 20-casting HiPo heads, correct HiPo exhaust manifolds, correct Motorcraft dual accelerator pump 4-barrel carburetor, and correct open element aircleaner assembly. Fires right up and settles into a lopey idle with a deep aggressive exhaust note and the gentle ticking of the solid lifters. Pulls hard through the rev range and runs like a K-code should. Will spin the tires with the throttle in first & second gears and the four barrel carb howls when you floor it in third & fourth. Runs nicely on pump gas and there are no mechanical issues; no smoke, no leaks, no noises. Factory 140 mph speedometer, factory Rallye gauges for Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, and Amps, and factory Rallye Pak with the 8000 RPM tachometer (K-code only) & clock. Very nice factory woodgrain three spoke steering wheel. Excellent dash with no warping and no sunfade on the gauges. Excellent center console with no pitting and no scratches. Excellent seats front & rear, excellent carpets, excellent inner door panels. Factory AM radio still in place. Dual side mirrors with remote for the driver. Factory Day/Nite rear view mirror.     Their Ecoated. A friend of mine is the ecoat chemical engineer at PPG and we have taken a bunch of original parts to PPG an had them annalyzed up in cleveland at the PPG paint group and they were originally ecoated as ecoating has been out since the 1920's

    Hello everyone, I I have cnc machined in my spare time the K code body snubber plate, i made a few of them. the ones that all nine inch rearend cars from mid 65 thru at least 70. I have not machined the early K 64 1/2 code snubber plate but will in the future if their is demand. if your missing this on your K its a must and sometimes stuff is too far rotted out and the replacement pan has the normal v8 body snubber. the cost of this is $100 dollars each they are exact demension of the original. all you will need to do is smear some body filler on it to shape like the originals rounded corners. the standard v8 snubber [Blocked Image: http://24.154.64.40/normalsnubber.jpg] the hipo snubber [Blocked Image: http://24.154.64.40/snubber.jpg] installed on mustang [Blocked Image: http://24.154.64.40/snubber2.jpg]
