Larry.... Sure, I was just going to return it to Marti anyway. You can have it for $27.00. $20.00 for the tag, $5.00 for layout fee and $2.00 for postage. That's exactly what I paid for it. PM me your address and I will send it out to you on Tuesday.

I am going to contact Marti on Tuesday and if we get lucky and they don't want the old tag back then it will only cost you for shipping.

Holiday special: buy the Shelby diff tag for $150K and they'll give you a free GT350.

Good to hear you can get the logo on the repro tags.

Good one Dave!

Gary

Ron... Thanks for the helpful information. Maybe I need to send them the exact information I need on the tag.

Gary,

The tag you got is a 66 Shelby type and is almost identical to the original on my 66 GT350 which reads:

DSO C6ZX-B (Top line)

3.89 6BD 925 (Bottom line)

There is no Ford logo. No idea why the Shelby tags were different but they were. An "X" in the part number usually meant it was a competition part.

Dave... Now if I just had a GT350 to put this tag on I would be very happy. Thanks for the helpful information. I think it is clear after seeing your post that Marti got my tag info mixed up with someone else's information.

Thanks... Gary

Dave, I don't think that is the case with Marti because I got my engine tag about a week ago and it has the Ford logo on it. I think they just got my tag mixed up with someone else's tag.

Thanks, Gary

Can we ask where you got your tag from?

Yes, I got it from Marti Auto Works.

I don't know about 66 but this is from a 65. Maybe it will help you out.

Thanks Dave for your reply. It seems my tag is way different than your 65 original.

Gary

I received my axle tag from today and after reading the archives I'm not so sure it is correct.

Top Line: DSO - C6ZX - B

Bottom Line: 3. 89 6BB 925

NO FORD LOGO

Door tag information is as follows:

Body: 63B Color: V Trim: F4 Date: 02C DSO: 32 Axle: 8 Trans: 5

Can anyone verify if my tag is correct or not?

Thanks for your help..... Gary

Joe.... I understand your point and don't necessarily disagree. What troubles me is when people say "Numbers Matching" and the date codes on the majority of the parts don't add up to the build date of the car. That coupled with the somewhat ease of stamping the VIN on a non-stamped block and transmission has me thinking that body and other parts falling within the correct parameters of the build date are more important. Now, having VIN stamped engine, transmission and all dates correct is the ultimate in my opinion. I guess it is safe to say, "Numbers Matching" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Tony Branda has a list price of $649.95 but a holiday sale price of $499.95 which includes 4 center caps and 20 lug nuts. The ad states exact repros, original style, show quality, correct paint. These are 14 x 5 size for 65 or 66 wheels. 1966 includes the trim rings. The 14 x 6 or 14 x 7 cost another $100.

The price I see on Branda's site is 549.95 for 14X5 wheels. Can you give a link to where you saw the 499.95 price.

Thanks .... Gary

Based on what we've all seen on eBay and other auctions, matching numbers are when DOLLARS PAID >= RESERVE PRICE which usually means that you paid too much.

I agree with you 100%. When I bought my 66 FB I was more concerned about the body and overall condition of the car. I was lucky enough to finally find the VIN on the block but what about the owners of Kars with blocks that were not stamped? I think that if all parts are date correct and the body is straight with no rust or repairs then you have a great K. IMHO

Gary

Please let me know if you have the 1966 Mustang Styled Steel wheels and would like to sell them or know where I can find them.

Thanks... Gary

Please tell me what it takes to have matching #'s in your opinion? Is it possible to have matching #'s if your block or engine are not stamped with the VIN?

Thanks.... Gary

Rob... I too am having an Axle tag made by Marti. All I sent was the door plate information. I got my engine ID tag from Marti today and it is really nice.

Hope this helps.... Gary

Thanks, I read all of the post and I have a question you may be able to answer. Where is the date code located and how do you decode it?

Thanks... Gary

Will also trade a RUG if interested.

Where would these go on a FB?

Thanks,

Gary

Mustangs Unlimited sells the same battery for 149.95 plus a 15.00 handling fee. The battery is shipped dry and if you want to you add the acid.

Unique part numbers will be stamped, but not tagged on the distributor and fuel pump as well.

Thanks for the info. Will these numbers be specific to my 66 K?

Thanks,

Gary
