Hello Steve... There should be a 19, 20 or 21. One will be on the front bottom corner on the drivers side and One will be on the rear bottom corner of the passenger side.
If you take the valve covers off you should see 289 with two dots above it cast into the head. Also look for the screw in rocker arm studs. Best thing you could do is buy a copy of "The 289 High Performance Mustang" Fourth Edition by Tony Gregory. This book is a wealth of knowledge.
Hope this helps,
Gary
Welcome aboard Rick!
Gary
Thanks John.
Gary
Bill, I haven't heard about them. Please tell me more.
Thanks, Gary
Wallace.... I don't know. Hope some people who are more knowledgeable in that area will respond.
Gary
Marcus, If he misrepresented the item you should file a claim with ebay. If you paid him using PayPal it is easier and faster.
Gary
Larry.... If Marcus doesn't take it I will.
Thanks,
Gary
Wallace.... take a look at this:

Hope this helps you.
Gary
Marcus... Sorry to hear this happened to you. Who was the seller? Need to let everyone know so they don't get taken by this person.
Gary
Richard... I saw the A code when it sold. It was a very nice car. Actually it sold for 66000.00 with buyers' fee.
Gary
Bill... I bought a conversion kit off ebay to convert one of the carbs on my 3x2 from auto choke to manual. Check on ebay and see if you can find it. If not, I will dig my up and give you the details on it.

Quote from 289route66Owner says 5F09719981 and also states first 9 could be a point of contention as it could be an 8; however, sure looks like a 9 to me.
Alex... I had the owner send me another picture of the VIN and it is a 9. What I am a little suspect of is the 1. All 1's I have seen stamped on the Kars have that little under line at the bottom. However, that is the spot on the trans where Dearborn built cars are stamped that I have seen.
Gary
Hope this gets to the owner of the 65 k this transmission was built for.

I was reading some old post concerning the correct color for the under carriage. On my 66 FB Dearborn built Kar I have what appears to be red oxide and then that is covered with black paint. In the fender wells it has what looks like under coating. Is it possible this is original? Because if it is, I am going to clean it up and leave it as is.
Thanks... Gary
Heck, when I saw the 66 fastback A code go for 60000.00 + buyer fee I almost passed out. But 5.5 million for a car? It truly is a very very special car. I wonder why Mr. Shelby sold it? I doubt he really needed the money.

Quote from Milpitasok, so what about the the value of a K Code Coupe, rust free that currently has a 6 cylinder,3 speed,8" in it, but, all the correct numbers matching drivetrain comes with it..car even has the correct rally pac in it still..car needs interior and body and paint, but a straight rust free California car overall..Whats a fair price?? Thanks
Is this a K code coupe that someone took the original drivetrain out, which they kept, and put in a 6 cylinder, 3 speed with a 8" rear into the car?
Gary
Paul, I have to agree with Ralph. You can't assume all people have the knowledge and ability to replace the floor pan and other body work like you do. 6500.00 sounds fair.
Gary
Is it possible to have an Assembly Date of Mar. 2, 1966 but have a Mar. 8, 1966 date on the steering box? The steering box looks original but I don't know.
Gary
Marcus, Try Pony Carburetors. They will rebuild your carb or sell you one outright. I'm getting ready to send them another one next week.
