Hank, what you say is logical. I just want to let you know that I would be willing to help in any way I can.
Thanks, Gary

Tom, I agree with you 100% that we need something for lost and found parts etc. I can understand why HPM is reluctant to add this to their site.
Maybe I can add a lost and found site to my server that HPM would provide a link to. I don't know if that is the answer but I am willing to help in any way I can.
Gary
Noel, I think you are right in your assesment of the situation but I had to make an attempt. Thanks for your kind words.

Quote from b9folkHey Gary, did you sneeze when you took that photo (look in upper left)...
No, honestly it is some of the wraping tape. (I Hope!) LOL

Quote from s2msGary, did you talk with Kevin Marti himnself about this? That sure doesn't jive with any info I've seen before including the info on the thread Tom posted above.
Dave, I don't know who I was speaking with but I don't think it was Kevin Marti. The guy kept telling me that according to the information I gave him the tag I received was correct for my car. The information I gave him is as follows:
Body: 63B Color: V Trim: F4 Date: 02C DSO: 32 Axle: 8 Trans: 5
I even told him that I was willing to pay again but I just wanted the correct tag. He said you have the correct tag. I left it at that and thanked him.
Gary
Terry, That is one sweet looking Fairlane. Wish I had one.
Gary
Thanks Dave. How hard is it to find that part in NOS form? If you know.
Thanks,
Gary
Gene... I was thinking the same thing.
Gary
I think Charles is talking about the assembly date of the engine. Couldn't be assembled before the part was made.
Gary
Can anyone tell me what this part is used for? It has C3OZ-6378-A and M590650. I'm being told it is a damper washer that is specific to the 289 K code engine. Is this true or is it just a washer used on any small block engine?
Thanks for your help,
Gary
If we ever find the owner of the car these parts belong to I will let the person buy them for exactly what I have in them. Otherwise I will keep them for my own use. It was a very low price IMHO. I just wish there was a way to find out if that car is in fact still around and not destroyed.
What I find incredible is the pristine condition this block and pistons are in. It had to of come from a very low mileage vehicle.
Anyway, if anyone finds out anything please let me know.
Thanks, Gary
Quote from s2msDisplay MoreGary,
The tag you got is a 66 Shelby type and is almost identical to the original on my 66 GT350 which reads:
DSO C6ZX-B (Top line)
3.89 6BD 925 (Bottom line)
There is no Ford logo. No idea why the Shelby tags were different but they were. An "X" in the part number usually meant it was a competition part.
Just thought I would post about my conversation with someone at Marti. He told me that the above information was correct for my car. I told him I had information that it was for a GT350 but he said nope it is correct. Go figure.
Gary
Today I received a block, main caps, rods and pistion that I purchased. This is one of the nicest blocks I have run across in a long time. The cylinders cleaned with a light honing (sp) and are a std bore. The piston look to have had very little wear on them.
Now, how can we locate the owner of the car it belongs in? I would love to get it back with it's car if I can. The VIN stamp looks like it is 5F07279166. The casting date is 4H20. I am attaching a photo of the block VIN to let all of you look at it and make sure I am reading it correctly. Thanks, Gary

Peter, You can also get one at National Parts Depot. Another source for these is Ebay.
Gary
Thanks Charles, I guess that will make a good project in a couple months. Do you think it would be OK to use paint remover to remove all the paint?
Thanks, Gary
Marcus.... I couldn't agree with you more. Greatest site I have ever seen for Mustangs.
Gary
P.S. Check went out to you today.
Thanks to Dave I can now post pictures.

As you can see from the pictures of my undercarriage the red oxide was painted over with black paint. Can anyone tell from the pictures if this was original or was it done after the fact. Also, notice the red oxide on the stearing and sway bar? Aren't these supposed to be natural color?
Any help appreciated. Gary
It should have the entire VIN but as you will learn with these engines nothing is impossible. If you have part of the VIN I would bet the rest of it is there but so faint that it will be very hard to see. One of my Kars is like that. I am going to pull the engine to clean the engine bay and I'm sure I will see all the VIN.
