I looked at the VIN closely, and from the pictures and the last 3 digits look tilted and going off to the right. In my experience the VIN numbers should be straight, I have some examples where the numbers may look a little different from one another. I suspect this is from dies being warn out and replaced by a different manufacturer. The VIN stars are visible. I would just check the other vin numbers on the car to make sure they look okay.

The other thing to check for is if there are holes in the frame rails where existing single exhaust brackets were present at some time. Just my 2 cents.

1965 Mustang K code coupe. Needs restoration. California car, with original black and yellow plates, has been in dry storage the last 20 years. The glass was taken out and restoration was started. I have new rugs, seat covers and window felts along with 15 X 7 steel style wheels. I was going to keep the motor and part out the car, however, the body is in pretty good condition, and the colors are good on the car. I felt someone else may have the time to restore the vehicle. I currently have too many other projects that I am working on.

I have a little bit of information on this vehicle. It was sold at silver auction in Oregon back in 2007 for $24,500. It was then put up for sale at hot august nights in reno, it brought $29,500 however, it was not sold. The restoration on the vehicle looks good. The motor is correct, with a re-pop fan and 66 motor mounts. Balancer, exhaust manifolds, distributor and carb were present. The paint looks good on the car, however the body work could be straighter for a black car. I looked at the car back it 2007 so the condition or components could have changed by then.

I was able to contact Mark, and picked up the motor. The motor looks pretty clean I don't know about original 10k miles, but it is standard bore. Block is stamped I think the vin that was posted is incorrect. It has the original balancer, heads, intake, rods and crank. Everything is date coded from 5L to 6B. It is missing Carb, Fan, distributor, exhaust manifolds and fuel pump. Yes it was in a dune buggy when I pulled the motor out.
