FYI
The Seller has declined to discuss the issues with the car on this forum or anywhere else for that matter.
-
I've asked the Owner to address the issues with his car in this forum. I think it is important at this point for him to address the issues for the benefit of any future owner(s) of this car.
I am an open minded person. If he has reasonable explanations for all the issues with the car, I will withdraw the negative feedback I left him. Reasonable explanations will not include any knowledge he had but chose not to disclose.
If he does choose to address the issues with his car in this forum, all of us need to keep an open mind. We also need to respond. But we need to listen first, then think before we respond.

If that was the case, with it being such an important indicator of a K code, you would think the Seller would of communicated that long before now. If it was my car, and that was the case, it would of been one of the first things I communicated to a potential Buyer. Especially with of all the discussion on this car and especially because a short time ago the photos of his car did not show the hole.

Then there is the mysterious appearance of the manual choke cable hole in the firewall which was not there in the Atlanta EBAY listing.
I would like to know how that happened AND WHO DID IT, as well as the fact that it immediately changed from yellow primer/sealer to gray primer, when the Ebay listing was moved from Atlanta to South Carolina.
I stand by the feedback I gave. This car is not as described.
Of course I think we are all open to changing our opinion(s) if Travis can give us some sort of satisfactory explanation.

As discussed above, Travis has been personally invited to tell us the true facts about this car, including the changes made to the car between the time the car was listed in Atlanta to the Relisting in South Carolina.
If he indeed has nothing to hide, he should take this opportunity and accept the invitation.

Yeah, this incident really made me realize how valuable this site and everyone's input really is.
So, I decided to quit freeloading and anti-up!
It is a small price to pay for what I have gotten in return.
Again, thanks to all the HIPO experts on this site!
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for fixing the first post. I can see the photos now.
Travis sent me a full refund today.
I would like to personally invite Travis to join this site, if he is not a member already, and let us know the true story behind this car.
Thanks to all you HIPO experts out there! I will be making a small donation to this site in your names!
Regards,
Darrell

Hey I totally missed the discussion on this post until tonight because of all the blank space on the original post. Is there any way this can be fixed?

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I will receive my money back on this transaction. I have given the Seller until 5PM tomorrow to make full restitution to myself and anyone else he has harmed (I know of at least one other person) with this deception.
I build civil and criminal cases for a living and if this guy was smart, he would take IMMEDIATE Affirmative action to make full restitution to all harmed parties.
But greed is the downfall of many!
Your are right. Purchasing a HIPO should be a great experience. I was looking for a K code Fastback to put my NOS HIPO shortblock into. Now I am thinking about selling it. IF I do, I will either give the HIPO exchange members first shot at it, or give them a discount if I put it on EBAY.
I saw the original listing in Atlanta and passed on it because it smelled. But the "new and improved K code Fastback" looked pretty good. I did not realize it was the same car.
Many thanks to the HIPO exchange members who have helped immensely!

I bought this car.
I was not aware of the prior listing on EBAY. The car mysteriously now has a different seller a new coat of gray primer and now has the manual choke hole in the firewall. Can anyone spell fraud and deception?.
The Seller said he would send my Paypal payment for $1000 and wire the balance ($10,000) on Monday. If he does not I will go directly to General McMaster. http://www.scattorneygeneral.org/
He hasn't returned my PayPal payment, which he should of done immediately. Guess theft will have to be added to the fraud charges.

I looked at the block this weekend and did not see an assembly date on the engine. So by the looks of it, the parts must have been taken off the shelf, balanced and NEVER assembled. Interesting.

Fred
You are right. Even if I bought a K code, I still would have a problem putting a NOS block in it. BUT, don't get me wrong, it is a good problem to have
Darrell -
Bob Thanks for posting the additional PICs. I appreciate it!
Fred I have most if not all of those additional parts. They were not attached to the block when I got it (The guy gave me two timing chains which are a little different from each other). The guy told me he took the engine apart and balanced it. You can see the additional weight put on the crank above the 1M mark. Also the pistons were balanced to make them all weigh the same.
I have no idea if cosmoline was put on the block. The block has been regularly maintained by using WD-40 to help keep surface rust from forming.
I bought this to put in my 65 2+2 which I got off of a friend of mine a number of years ago. The 2+2 was sitting in his garage since 1974. BUT his roof leaked and destroyed the hood and the front fenders and the cowl is heavily pitted. It is a C code and I have not yet been able to psych myself up to put this HIPO into it. No offense to those C code owners out there, but I struggle with my car not being worthy of this engine. Maybe I'll look for a K code to put it in. Another issue I have is once this is installed, it is no longer NOS. It should be in a museum somewhere! Darrell

Assembly Date? I don't recall seeing one. I will double check this weekend. Would there be one if it was an over the counter purchase? You got my curiosity up. Darrell
