I have a block with a casting date of 6H5, August 5th 66 in a 66 fastback with a earlier, Sept 65 build date. A previous owner said that the engine had been short blocked in 1973 at a small Ford dealership. It has a small aluminum tag attached to the block, that is totally blank. I think that this was possibly an AER reman tag, but not certain. The original build date is not there or the original serial number. Although it appears to be a k block with the right pieces. Question is this, with this casting date would this be considered an engine originally built for a 1966 or a 1967 car. Are there other identifiers that might provide a clue to this? Thanks.

I just purchased a 65 parts car over the weekend that might have the horns. The seller loaded up the inside with boxes of extra parts. I know I saw two sets of decent horns. Call if you are interested. 903-388-4295

I'm sure it has been discussed many times before, but in reviewing my 41st (1975) edition of the Hollander Auto-Truck Interchange I find that the block for the
8-289, special, late
#663 has a casting number of C50Z-6010C8-289, exc.special late----#659 has a casting number of C5AZ-6015E
It also list the crankshaft for both as a #38 but list
(1) C3AZ6303F, EXC. 8-289 H/per
(2) C30Z5303B, 8-289 H/per
