So the shift linkage is off my four speed transmission. It's on my 65K. Are there some good directions on how to re-install it? maybe some pictures? The transmission is in the car already.
Thanks

I went the opposite route during my restoration, adding the factory disk setup. Then for good measure, I also added the 10x2-1/2 inch rear drums. In the 23k plus miles I've put on the car since 2000, there have been a couple of ocassions where I was damn glad I had done the upgrade. Just sayin'. Quote from 65Rangoonquote:
My car is pretty plain. The only thing it has is the rally pac. I have thought about putting disc brakes on it, but not really sure it's worth it. I have gone through the whole bake system, so they should work fine when I get it on the road. I put a duel master on it is the only change.

Part of the reason I did not add disc, was because the car has the original running gear and I did not want to change the originality of the car. Not really sure it's worth it or not? It honestly depends on how much I drive the car too. If I end up driving it a lot, I may change the brakes over to disc.

Thanks Fred, I didn't think so. Did any of them come with disc brakes or power steering that early?
My car is NOT a GT and was built Dec 22nd 1964 I think. I thought I read somewhere on here that they did not make any GT cars that early? Just wondering is all?
Sadly a few years ago I bought a motor and transmission for $250 and cleaned the motor up to find out that it was a vin# stamped 289. I didn't know that there was a site like this and I just sold it on ebay. Had I known, I would have posted it to see if I could have found the owner.
I was blessed enough to find my k car with the vin on both the motor and transmission, and I also found my 67 Camaro SS vert with the Motor vin on it. It is a nice thing to have for sure.
Thanks guys, I was not sure if it was just me? I will check back occasionally to see if it's fixed.
I tried to register my car on here, but it would not take the information? Any help would be nice. Thanks
I kept wondering why there was no price? Hope you end up with the motor for your car.Good luck.
Do they really pay that close of attention to the date code on doors and hoods? Just asking, because this seems almost too excessive? I know nothing about judging a car or anything like that, so I am speaking from ignorance.
Any pictures?
So I have two alternators and I think one of them is my hipo one, but not sure. How can I tell what one it is? It's for my Dec 64 built 1965 fastback.
Thanks
The color was not a base coat, it was a single stage paint.
That is kind of cool that he is getting it back. Did you look to sell it to him first?
I have a 67 Camaro convertible SS that has the vin on the motor and is very original and the guy I bought it from six years ago asked if he could have first dibs on the car if I sell it and if I ever do, he will get first shot at buying it.
Couple days apart. Mine was Dec 21, 1964. Mine was born in Southern Cal:)
Sorry, it's a 65 k built in Dec of 64.
Fred, not sure where to look on here for PM and no email? My email is kcode2001@yahoo.com
Thanks
OK, before I got really into restoring my motor I think I got rid of my water pump:( I am going to look around, but pretty sure it's gone. Are they really hard to find as a reconstructed one? Currently I have a 289 in my car that is NOT my original motor, but would like to compile the correct parts for my numbers matching motor.
Thanks
I agree, I cut my shock tower out of a donor car too. Great fit!
Thanks Fred, I will probably remove it to make it look a little cleaner. I need to bend some new lines to go to the master first :)Do you know if there are any pre-bent lines out there that would work for this?
Thanks
So if I want to take the plug for the gauge out, can I plug that?
