I believe there was a 65 Shelby that was tested with a Paxton and fitted with Thunderbird tail lights. Might be the car that fred raced.
I have done alot to my 66 GT 350 but I still don't think it would beat my bone stock 69 Mustang scj coupe in the 1/4 mile.

I have been cutting the hurst handles off and welding my own adaptor plates on any 69 4speeds I have owned for years. It's not hard to do.

My Shelby revs alot quicker than my other K codes. Might have to do with the Paxton and 2.5" exaust. I regularly take the Shelby to 7 grand, Not the original engine. My other two Kars are original engine cars and I limit them to 6 grand.

All I have ever seen was black crinkle paint. You may have to paint it black crinkle then parchment.
How is the Fairlane coming? Did I miss the photos somewhere ?

The one piston skirt that I can see looks very worn. I would say it's time to rebuild the bottom end.
