Larry.... Sure, I was just going to return it to Marti anyway. You can have it for $27.00. $20.00 for the tag, $5.00 for layout fee and $2.00 for postage. That's exactly what I paid for it. PM me your address and I will send it out to you on Tuesday.

I am going to contact Marti on Tuesday and if we get lucky and they don't want the old tag back then it will only cost you for shipping.

    Thanks, you have mail

I went through the same thing in 95 when I bought my 66 GT 350. The car was a nice driving low milage car with all the hipo stuff on the outside. It even had the correct Ford vin on the block. Three months after buying the car I pulled the pan. To investigate a strange tick. Didn't find the cause of the tick but did discover a nice set of lopo caps and rods. The inside of the T pan looked like a hand grenade had gone off in it. Those pans must be tough. I never tried to contact the seller. I bought the car "as is". I just pulled the motor and had the correct stuff installed. 10 years later I am still having a blast with it. To tell the truth I have alot more fun with it knowing, I am not going to blow the original motor. It's now listed in the Shelby Registery as having a replacement block. Don't want the next owner, after my death, to assume it's the original just because it's vin stamped. I see you are looking for Hipo caps. Hope things work out and you get to enjoy your car as much as I have mine.

So you did away with the cruse control and power passenger window.

Opps, I just looked at the March 96 Mustang Monthly where this car was on the cover and pages 20 to 23. Looks like the cruse and power window was removed before the car went to Houston. Last time I drove the car it had a godawful BM shifter, trailer hitch and all the above add ons. The guy who owned the car in the 70s and 80s used it as his daily driver, auto cross racer and pulled a camper trailer at times. I don't think I have ever met a long time owner who loved thier car more and hated to see it go. In 1995 a friend of mine bought it for $18,631 and offer it to me for $ 22,000. Sure wish I had a extra 22 grand back then.

Try showing a 69 R code coupe. Don't know how many times people have asked me why I put a shaker on a coupe or why I didn't put that motor in a fastback. Few have looked at the VIN # and realised what a rare car it is.

Afew years ago I was showing my 66 GT 350. Three guys walked up. I heard one loud mouth guy say "I know it's not real because it dosen't have a roll bar". I explained that 67 was the first year for street Shelbys to have roll bars. He was like "oh it's real? Is this the one I did a appraisal on last year?". My reply was a little harsher than it sould have been, but this guy was being a real horses a$$ showing off for his friends. I said "No and you don't know enough to appraise Shelbys". They left right after that.

Sure you can :D We have a class called "special Interest, Ford Powered Non-MCA class'

Hope to see you at the show 8)

Thanks for the info. I didn't know MCA was so open minded. I may bring my 66 S code Mustang instead.

It's recommended that you change before you put it up for winter. To remove acids. Then again in spring. In case condensation accumulates in the engine. I don't worry about either. Good thing about living in Tx. there is always afew days a week to drive a old car.

The up side is that you had the car to sell in the first place. Years ago I had to sell my baby a, GT 350 convert. Selling the car allowed me to keep my house and shop where I restored cars as a hobby. I hope things work out for you.
