Do you have any components for the car besides the shell? Is the door tag there? Are the VIN's stamped in the front fenders? Hi Troy,
It is nice to confirm what the previous owner told me. I now know for sure this is the original drive train and a five matching numbers car. I found the # on the front passanger side of the block just above the oil pan gasket and below the ground strap. Numbers are spaced apart with about 1/4" between each. I can tell you lots about 65-66 mustangs but don't know how to post a picture to this site. Wish I could. I have lots that I would love to share. If you give me your e-mail address I can send you a picture of the VIN that way. Ed

Hello Everyone.....This has been a GREAT day for me...as many of you know I bought my K code last year. The prevoius owner told me there was no VIN on the block. HE WAS WRONG!! Today, after using paint remover on the freshly restored engine ...I found it !! Thanks to all who said it could be stamped lightly. Mine is,and it is there. Hello all...I have seen two types of trumpet exhaust tips. One has a round edge and one has a flat edge. I beleive the flat edge is original. I need to buy one .....Anybody?? Thanks....Ed
The price is fine, assuming this car is as advertised. These K codes will continue to appreciate, especially the ones with original drive trains and pony interiors. Be patient...By the Summer it should go. If you must sell now it should go quick for 35 to 38K. Best of luck..Ed
Some folks just want the original battery for shows and use a cheapo for driving. you can save $$ this way. The original design acid fill repo is less expensive than the sealed version. Never fill it with juice. Just install it for diplay. It will always be new. I know this is not for everyone but it is an option
I also use American Collectors. Always have. Never had a reason to look elsewhere. They took care of my only claim quickly and no rate increase. I would certianly reccomend them.

Hi Lyle...As a general rule I always try to salvage and restore original parts. Replacement should be a last resort in my book. Best paint I found for engine compartment walls is Krylon semi-flat black. I find the sheen to be VERY close to the original. Have fun with your project. Are you yanking the engine/tranny? Ed
Hello all...Just chiming in here......My 65 K has a 6/1/65 scheduled build date and is a factory pony interior car. Also has the visibility group w/remote mirror. Ed
Thanks Murf...I have a scheduled build 6/1/65 Dearborn K and the tabs are squared off which should be correct. Gotta get out to the pony barn and check for the numbers by the voltage regulator. Still have the original radiator somewhere from the 66 A 4-speed convertible I sold last year. Was built in New Jersey and I beleive the tabs were rounded. When I find it I will report back with my findings.
Thatis a good point. Ford probably never considered that these handles
would need to be removed and replaced.
Another question on the subject of radiators. I see some with rounded top tabs and some top tabs are squared off. What is the difference? thanks, Ed
I replaced mine..hole also on wrong side from Mustangs Unlimited. Thoughtit would be a quick easy job. A TOTAL pain in the butt! Got to wonder what these engineers were thinking when they designed this. I would have had the handle screw on with a lock nut to secure it. Simple on...simple off........ET

Had a 66 red 3-speed C-code fastback w/black pony interior on LI in the 70's. Had a few since then. Currently I have a 65 K code GT fastback. Ragoon red w/black pony interior. Hi Ed.
If you can get the car on a hoist it will be easier. You can't miss it, its directly under the transmission at the back viewable from under the car. As I recall there's really only one flat area for the stamping. Sorry I don't have all the tech terms, but if it's there it's in plain sight.
