Nice pictures Wes. What did you paint the exhaust manifolds with? Ed
-
Charles.. Why would you paint the master cylinder cap black?
Paint the master cylinder and cap semi-gloss black.
-
Dave... Did you get the pertronix made specifically for the dual point
ignition system?
-
Probably was standard interior originally with the wood grain appointments added later.
-
If the original pony interior had a console, it should be wood grain. Ed

Murf....Read your post and went right out to check the coil. It is "4 A"....January 1964? My build date is 6/1/65. What do you think? Ed
Your original coil has a date on the yellow top portion. Not too many folks are aware of this, but between the posts you will find - if you look closely - a letter and a number that are in a RAISED print, not stamped. The numeral is the year, the letter is the month. Check out the one you have! Little details like this are what drive me nuts, and now you can share a portion of my mental demons. This may be one of the things you wish you did not know because now you will spend hours and $ getting the corect one.

Excellent observation Rene....also... those wheels look 65... not trim ring 66. Our picking aside...the kar is absolutely beautiful. Ed

I agree with you Charlie... but I would like to see how much better my hipo will run with the pertronix especially with today's gas prices. Either way...would never show the kar without the yellow top. Is there a way to tell if you have the original factory coil? Ed

Hi Rene, Thought all high profile pacs had eye brows. Do you have a picture of yours? Thanks, Ed
Hello all,
I have a R.red 1965 GT K code fastback with black pony interior. Scheduled build date of 6/1/65. It has the eye brow style 8,000 rpm rally pac. Does not say "RALLY PAC" across the top. From what I understand this is a factory installed rally pac. If it says "RALLY PAC" across the top it is dealer installed. Regardless,I think this style is wrong for my car. I think the correct style for my K would be the low profile type with the center mounted indicator needle on the tach and the clock. Is it possible this K came with the existing rally pac? Thanks, Ed

Hi Ed.
I too have a 65 GT K code with the same exterior colour and pony interior. I have the build sheet or window sticker (whatever it's called) which shows a factory fitted Rally Pac. Mine is not low profile and it doesn't say Rally Pac on it and doesn't have the eye brow either. I don't know if it was ever replaced, but that's what mine has. I hope this helps.
Regards,
René

Hello all.... Mustang Restorations of Illinois did most of the body work on my K. It was done clean and professionally. No complaints. I heard another place, K.A.R.,is second to none. Ed

Hi Kevin,
I am an original equipment nut but I am thinking about switching over to perteonix I for obvious reasons. My understanding is that you can switch back to points if you wish. Can you use the original yellow top coil with the pertronix unit or must you use their coil? Much rather have the yellow top stock look. Great idea keeping a set of points with you. I would do the same. Thanks, Ed
I've been running Pertronix I and coil for the past 4 years. I have a point set in the trunk if it ever goes out...which it hasn't. I prefer the consistentcy and reliability (though I've heard Pertronix II's are tempermental) over points.

Hello all...Just wondering how many of you have switched over to electronic ignition and what your thoughts are on doing so. thanks, Ed
-
I personally like the low profile better but I would be hesitant to replace the one that has been on the kar since the 60's.
-
Thanks Charles, I will look into that further. How about the style? Always thought the early eye brow style was for Falcon type bezels and the low profile was for the 5 guage bezel. Did Ford put the eye brow style (high profile?) on 65 pony interior cars?

Hello all.. I have tried various paints to simulate the low sheen engine bay finish. I am a rattle can fan. The best I found is Krylon semi-flat black enamel. Charlie..That rustoleum satin classic low sheen finish paint sounds interesting. I will try it. Thanks, Ed

Per the Mustang manual always used 10w 30. Recently switched over to 10w 30 Mobil 1 synthetic for better protection. Never had an oil related problem and no leaks after switching to synthetic. Ed
