The original heads on my 65 K are special enough, thank you.
Yes Brock...for all of us that are Special K, or was that Special Ed?!?

Just look at the fastback. The lines are awesome! I have owned both and I much prefer the fastback.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Would definately travel to see any of these 'futuristic" cars if they still exist somewhere.
Jeff..Are your original clamps off Mustangs? NOS?
The main thing I wanted to know was weather or not there were variations to the tower style clamps used in Dearborn 1965 production. Looks like tower clamps were used exclusively in Dearborn and Jersey. San Jose also used wire clamps. I am now researching the correct finish of the original tower clamps. The ones we buy today are galvanized. I found in the bottom of my old Craftsman toolbox two original Ford radiator hose tower clamps that are either chrome or polished stainless steel. Don't know if they came from a Mustang. Back then my dad and I had various Fords from 1949 thru 1973. Maybe the chrome/stainless clamps were used on the Galaxie or Lincoln?
Got the info I needed. Thanks
Most restored hipo engines I see have the tower (band) clamps. Mustang houses also list the wire clamps for early Mustangs. Are they both period correct? Did they vary by assembly plant? 6 cyl vs. 8 cyl? By the year? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Ed
Thanks Fred...Please advise when you get a chance. Ed
Ed,
The bolt that you need is 9 1/2 inches long and fits a very few, but not all, 65 to 67 full size Fords. If you want exact applications you can contact me. The retainer plate was actually a 68 full size Mercury part. I do have an NOS bolt and I may have an extra used retainer but I am away from home at the moment so I am unsure of that.

Would like to buy that longer spare tire carriage bolt and smaller hold down for styled steel wheel spare. Was this supplied by ford? First I am hearing of it. Any Mustang houses sell them or does anyone have NOS or used ones for sale? Thanks, Ed
Thank you for that explaination Charles. Unfortunately, I now know this is not the original radiator for my K which has a 6/1/65 SBD. I am now looking to trade my radiator for one with a 3/65-5/65 date code. Is this a K specific radiator or did all manual V8's get this one? (Need to know where to post...Generic or K specific parts section). Thanks, Ed
5LB is 2nd week of November, 1965, just as I posted previously. The 5 indicates the actual year, not the production year.

According to the production codes: the month of L for the 1965 production year would be 11/64. The month of L for the 1966 production year would be 11/65. If the date code is 5LB, is the 5 the production year (11/64) or the actual year built (11/65) which would be for the 1966 production year.
5LB is the date code, 2nd week of November, 1965 (1966 production year).

I have a 65 Dearborn K GT fastback. Excellent picture...thanks. I do not have such stampings on the upper tank. However, attached to the rear drivers side of the upper tank is a small metal tag that reads "5LC 11". Also, stamped on the driver side mounting flange is
"DEP C4ZE8005 Y1 5LB". Can anyone decipher? Thanks, Ed
I have the same Y1 info after the C4ZE # ON THE DRIVERS SIDE MOUNTING FLANGE. I will get all the info this evening and post it tonight or tomorrow. I don't see anything on the tank top...G2,Y2 etc. Where exactly on the tank are you guys finding this? Ed
Just a note of caution...Changed my radiator hoses and antifreeze over the weekend. To loosen the tower clamps you need to back out the screw and hit the tower top. You can damage the radiator neck if you hit too hard. I got a very small leak at the neck seam. It was an easy fix but it could have been worse. Ready for winter...Ed
Doesn't work for me either.
If this gem is worth $85k, then mine is worth $185K. NOT!!!!!!!
Do original 65/66 jacks have part number or date codes on them? If so ... where? Thanks, Ed
Got the jack I need. Thanks Paul......Ed
Any of you 67 hipo guys have the rubbere strip?
