This is the second K code and third mustang in the barn, so we did know what we're getting into. Committed is an understatement here! Thanks for the thoughts.

This next picture is of the vin patch. The inner fender was to far gone. Not trying to hide anything here.

The man doing the work is Dennis Ware, in Michigan.

I'll update with new pictures as progress continues. If anyone sees something that doesn't look right, just post we are trying to resurrect this 67' back to life and do it correctly.

Update:
The inner rockers and torque boxes are in. A hole new floor is being prepped. Still a lot of work to be done, and a lot of money to be spent.

Driver side is double stamped, passenger side one stamped.
Front passenger side suspension is temporally partially back together.

Question for all, the next picture is of the original floor pan that was removed. Note the four holes the larger hole is front center on both sides, I have not seen this on other 67' was this original from the factory? NPD does not have a cover for a hole this size.

Thanks you all for the help.
J. Speegle, thanks for the picture and we are trying to get the underside done correct. The build date I believe was May, 67'.
I'll got the actual date here soon. Our thought on the rear leaf springs are to replace the middle springs or have them resprong.
Tom, Thanks again for your help. I do have your pictures saved on the computer.
I'll update the progress soon with more picture.

I do want to see picture here on the forum when you win!

This is a continued topic from the general diskussion thread, I was asked to move it here for a better fit on the forum.
Update on the Kar:
The picture tell the story of were we are in the project. These pictures are not for the faint of heart here she is naked, stripped for your viewing.

In Picture #3 you can see the firewall has a lot of work to be done. Time was not kind to the horse, nor was the Michigan salty winter roads. You can also see that the new door hinges are installed. Floors and inner frame rails are next on the list.
We are still in need of pictures of the front markings on the sway bar (the green and yellow marks) if some one can help. The hole front suspension is off and is being rebuilt.
As for the engineering numbers on the rear springs the are hard to read:
C7 ZA 73Z
5556AM
Again this is very hard to read and maybe wrong. A question for all does the rear spring painted or phosphate and oil?
The Kar was delivered with PB. And has what we believe is the original engine (no vin on the block but all k parts and correct date codes) The trans. is a four speed, no vin correct date again. Any other help in the restoration, thoughts insight would be greatly appreciated.
I have also found a site that other maybe interested in: http://www.midcomustang.com/frameandfloor.shtml . They have line drawnigs of the body specifications of the 1965-1970 Mustang frame and under body platform. The measurements provided are used to ensure that the Mustang unibody is square, and the body mounting points are in the correct relative position to the under carriage and frame support members. Take a look.

I've been ask to move this thread to the Skrap book side. Please visit and see new updated picture of the restoration.

Yes, we did take a lot of pictures. But the floors were rotted away under the carpet. The Flintstone's finest. The hole underside was rusted. We are in the process of restoring the front suspension. Looking for pictures of Dearborn 67'(April I believe was the built date), underside and marks that these Kars came with.
The competition suspension that this Kar came with had adjustable Gabriel/Autolite shocks along with thicker front sway-bar. This Comp. suspension has 15" wheels with rolled front fenders.
[Blocked Image: http://i21.tinypic.com/t00p41.jpg]
We are trying to save the front fenders, but if not does anyone know how the fender lips were rolled at the factory?

We have found this forum to be a big help in the past. If anyone is interested if seeing this project on this forum, or not, please post. I would like to hear from you.
Thanks For looking Q.

My father and I are restoring a 67' Mustang convertible GT. We thought it would be neat to document the restoration process for all of you on the board. We are open to any comments, questions or answers! Be aware we will only view your messages as suggestions. It's our project in the end. We will update this each month if there is enough interest.
Background:
This is the 3rd vintage Mustang my father owns, and the second K-code. Here is a pictures of the other two the K is the Blue 66'. The green is a 65'

Purchased about 2 years ago this October.
It's a convertible, GT
Paxton Supercharger
Competition Suspension
Springtime Yellow with black interior, and top
At this time it is completely gutted and is in the process of getting new floors installed.

Over the past year my father and I have disassembled the Kar and documented each part with a digital camera. We restored what can be saved and order NOS parts that are available.
Currently the Kar has been media blasted, and new parts order. the motor is on the floor in the shop and waiting rebuild. Drive-shaft has been balanced and painted. Interior: the seat are recovered and dash restored. Again if there is any helpful hints or pitfalls to avoid please add your comments.
The help that we are looking for this month would be details of a Dearborn 67' chassis color or type of primer used. Details of markings on the underside and fenders.

Thanks Gerald, Looking at the original I think the repos have the checkered flags backward? Repo = bottom right corner black.
