And Jeff, would you help us with those things you understand should NOT be there? Thanks.:D:D

You realize that by establishing a list publicly, your providing the information needed for person who wishes to fake one. Kind of like providing all the details we use to determine a rebodied or faked Shelby.

Of course the really good ones already know all or most. Its the backyard guys that this would really help

    Just a thought

One must consider that when inspecting a possible factory GT that it is not only a list of features you must confirm are there but everything you see that should not be there must be considered also. Its the total of the findings that will lead one to a logical conclusion

There is a Saphire Blue 66 offered for sale out of New Jersey on the Cars On Line site. S61739.......................

    1. Does anybody have knowledge of this car or inspected it?

Looked at about 70 pictures of the car sent to me by a potential buyer a little over a month ago

    2. I would not buy any car without first inspecting it myself but, do you guys know of a Shelby guy in the NJ area who you would recommend that I hire to also inspect the car for me?

Have a friend that might be available in the area (Rode Island) email me for a name if you would like

    4. I guess lastly, I would surely listen to anybody's general advise on this idea. You won't hurt my feelings.

Ask allot of questions and hire someone good (great investment) that is uninvolved with the car to give you a truthful evaluation. The little you spend can save you allot.

    Hope this helps a little.

The pink on the end looks like it was applied before the u-joints were installed. I should have the original u-bolts, which I'll clean to look for pink paint. ...........

Really doubt that the pink has anything to do with the U joints. instead (like the later drivelines) would think that they might have identified the cast end so that the guy putting together the driveline could tell that particular size from the others.

Of course there is documentation for the later (66 cars) for the yellow use. The document states that its purpose was to allow a service worker the ability to reinstall the driveline the exact way it was originally. This helped (Ford hoped) address the ongoing complaints of vibration at or about 35-45 mph

I have removed my 3rd member to work on it and thought I would share the marks that I have found.

Does anyone know what these mean ?

Have not found an assembly line guy that can explain any to a tee (likely will not since these were done at the rear end plant) General understanding IMHO is that they relate to the person assembling the unit and one of the inspectors that inspected it.

................. Thanks to guys like you that show these things to others.

Let us just hope that other owners will not borrow details that don't apply to their cars ;)

Charles - as always great to see what your discovering

Merry Christmas to all here at the HiPo eKschange

    Hi guys

Where can i get information on detailing for a 1965 K Code

    built in San Jose?

From sites like this and others focused on Concours Restorations. IMHO its difficult to put everything in a book since we are learning and finding new info every week. Also if many of the markings were put into printed form most would just copy those (rather than discuss and learn all the variables) and we would have even more of the cars looking like a cookie cutter of the other. And that is no fun IMHO to look at or see at a show.

Remember when you car was built is as important as where your car was built. At that particular plant and year the floor pans could be one of two different colors for a start.

And finally please don't add all the paint daubs and markings on the car unless your going to do all the rest correctly. Nothing more disappointing IMHO to see everything marked up like a circus only to notice that brackets or hood hinges(for example) are not the correct finish. You get the idea ;)

The Ford Motor Co. product engineering drawing indicate paint stripes.

Yes they do and thanks for reminding us again of another place where Ford documentation does not align with the facts and evidence in the real world ;) or maybe the engineering drawings are from the period after the dots.

Its great when multiple things (documents and original car findings) do all align. Makes everything a little easier

..........I wonder why my restorer elected to do the markings like he did?

Its common to find restorers using what they have seen or are comfortable. Have a guy use to 69-70's he will always lean towards stripes.

We start seeing stripes at San Jose in the mid year of 65 production (intermixed with dots) and move towards more to all stripes as we get into 66 production there from what I see

Last one I installed was the mass back. The loops and carpet itself is the same - just a think layer of "rubber" or similar material added to the back - fit was fine (no way could I see through the extra 10-20 lbs of liner. This was a couple of years ago. And last year purchased another one for my Cougar I've yet to install

More recent standard carpet I've seen was this week and every row in of loops was very crooked. The rows angled off (from drivers to passengers side) maybe 1/2-3/4" every two foot. Only good thing was the rear section was the same crappy angle. Workers must just toss a section in the press and it lays however it lands - once heated then they trim it.
