Do we mean Cleveland or Windsor?
As for San Jose the parts (before they went to the plant) would go through Richmond, Ca where they were often checked for damage (and routed. Damaged panels and such were often then rerouted to the service replacement supply, rather than the plant. Know a number of guys that worked and ran the distribution site

Never consider (just IMHO) period magazines as a reliable, sole source for details. Just me

Jeff, when did the SJ plant put the wire clamps into production? Thanks, Dave
The belief is that their use started with 66 production at San Jose - Kevin Marti researched the issue years ago and came to the same conclusion at that time.
Quote from SPECIAL EDJeff..Are your original clamps off Mustangs? NOS?
Not NOS - just the typical nice stuff we pull off the cars out here
So better than NOS in some cases
Quote from CharlesTurnerThe '65 GT350 that was at Springfield earlier this year for the MCA national is a low mile unrestored car (26k I think).
Sounds like that might be one of Killian's cars - he has a bunch of unrestored very low mileage Shelbys and Mustangs

Could there be a hipo balancer on this car from the factory?
Nope IMHO
Quote from brokn nxIt looks way bigger than even my aftermarket Ford racing balancer. How do I tell. What is the thickness of a hipo balancer? Is there anything special about the block? The number is D1AE-AA.
There were some thick low performance (retarded) SB balancer that are thick. Behind the forward machined outer surface (like the Hipo) there is a recess that is cast - not machined if I recall correctly
Nothing special about that block casting
Quote from brokn nxBeing that it was shipped to transportation services it could be anybodys guess what was put on there.
Normally all that was added to these cars was lots of miles. Allot of station wagons, truck and vans were ordered/sent to transportation services. Pretty normal - low performance stuff generally though a few special order groups of cars used this DSO but this was an unusual example

Thank you, I know Shelby's have some/none relationship to serial numbers but if the next number to mine is close in dates it might help by compairing mine to theirs to understand build dates. I know the real answer is the Ford vin. ..............
Also consider that even if the Ford VINS were right after the other the two cars were likely not even built on the same day and could be as different as three weeks
But understand - owners of the early cars have little else to go by
I've owned 1203 since the early 80's

Was the rubber pad installed and then the shroud painted or was it installed after paint thanks inadvance Otto
On the service replacements they were painted after. Don;t have access to a really nice original

.............. The picture of the original 66 above are on a car that Ron Bramlett has owned for many years and he is the second owner.
Unfortunately the engine compartment was redone on that car. Wish Ron had not chosen to do that

Yes San Jose is where Ford ran the first production usage of the "new" pat pending wire style radiator hose clamps that were designed to save time and money for the company. I've got plenty of original tower clamps and the bands appear to be clearly galvanized

"Also, would anyone have info as to how many of the 67K Mustangs (non-Shelby) came from Ford with the Thermactor/Air Pump setup?"
You would have to have Kevin run a report on K codes produced at San Jose or Dearborn with a 71 or 72 DSO after April 15th to get a close guess. Of course thus would not include the handful of GT350's delivered with Thermactors since they didn't use those DSO's But Kevin might be able to filter those cars by using a one or two Special orders that included those cars.
Likely the number is going to be small.
Remember that the C7ZE Hipo Heads with the ports could have been used on non-thermactor also. None ported ones were

Thats a really odd looking top tank.
Don't believe its an original especially fro a San Jose. Fred how many rows is that thing? The top tank looks a little like the "desert cooler" radiators that people put on their cars in the late 70's - early 80's around the SW
-
Michael good to meet you there.... if you checked I stamped your hood to match the fenders while you were somewhere else. Don't know how it was overlooked when I stamped it for Gaines.

The steel convertible seat nut plugs are difficult to find and for some reason have not been reproduced.
Thanks for posting pictures as you tackle this project

........ That one has Mc-E 5 on the top tank with a C6ZE on the side mounting bracket. ......
Fred do you have a picture of this?... I haven't found one marked like this yet. If you do was this a Dearborn car?

Quote from round2K
The MPC lists a number of different possible part numbers for hipo radiators. It would be worth the effort to cross reference those numbers against both the K codes and the Shelbys.
Please remember that the MPC does not list what came original in a car just what will fit or what Ford had that the time that specific book was print available to use for a particular application.
Often the information is not always as useful as one would think.

I have the same Y1 info after the C4ZE # ON THE DRIVERS SIDE MOUNTING FLANGE. ............ Where exactly on the tank are you guys finding this? Ed
Ed you likely don't have a San Jose radiator
Here is what others are seeing (top tank surface)

Thanks you all for the help.
J. Speegle, thanks for the picture and we are trying to get the underside done correct. The build date I believe was May, 67'.
I'll got the actual date here soon. Our thought on the rear leaf springs are to replace the middle springs or have them resprong.
Tom, Thanks again for your help. I do have your pictures saved on the computer.
Sounds fine.... I've responded to you PM.
Since it was a May car... was it delivered (71 -72 DSO) to Calif?
