No power steering, power brakes, or air conditioning with the "power engine" option.

It may have been a show car but (in my opinion) it has Arvinode muffler hangers, a '67 style transverse exhaust ('64 resonators weren't glasspack type), and the rear underside is painted solid body color. Nice car though.
I also noticed that the coil spring cover bolts on this car, as well as a few others we've looked at, stick into the engine compartment. Did some come that way or are they supposed to have their heads in the engine compartment and stick through into the wheel well?

I tried to email you to order one but it bounced back. If any left, please email me payment info at misterend@aol.com .

I like "The Road Warrior" way better than "Mad Max". Didn't care at all for "Beyond Thunder Dome". Amazing that car (and the stunt people) survived.

..and if there are several of these, I'd like one, too.

I'd be interested in the non-beveled ones. I have no idea what to offer, though. Obviously worth at least several times what available repros go for.

What is with the radiator support venting (in front of the battery area)? Looks like a hybrid of 64.5 and 65. And it comes with a 66 grill, so it is like that Johnny Cash song.. "It's a 64, 65, 66 automobile...."[Blocked Image: http://i2.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/a0/6f/b258_1.JPG]

Looks like the Ford script "F".

I decided to revise my response. Why bother calling it a "K" anymore? The roof, doors and taillight panel could be classic parts, none of the rest are. Worth some money as a racer, worth nothing as a classic or collectible, even with that vin.

Dang - you're going to make me one of "them" yet! Thanks - both of your answers make sense from a manufacturing standpoint.

Two "newbie" level questions:
1. What is correct finish for horn brackets? I've seen some painted black, but I assume they are supposed to be zinc or cad plated?
2. Steering tube protruding into engine bay - painted body color, interior color, primer, black, ..?
I have Helm's "Mustang Detailing Guide" but it is too vague to be of much help.

Try this site: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibra…files/ford.html
There is a pulldown in the upper right to select year. The 1965 code for interior white appears to be 8612. The 1966 card's back does not come up. Here is 1965:

I wasn't going to say anything about that....

I've thought about "faking" a system by using standard glasspacks, but it'd probably be too loud & wouldn't look correct. The system I took off my car had glasspacks, and one time when I took it out of storage the loud exhaust set off the alarms in some other cars stored there!

Troy,
Did you end up using the GM semi-gloss black on the fender aprons, or did you purchase something else?

Charles - I sent private message.
In retrospect, I should have tried to protect the boots with something, maybe a plastic shim, while removing them. But I'm a newbie and have done a few dumb things along the way.
I'm a little annoyed that all the vendors seem to want me to buy a whole new lower arm rather than just a ball joint or boot. It probably makes it more worthwile to sell (and less hassle to install) but I'm trying to refurb my parts as much as is practical. One of the next tasks is figuring out how to get the old bushings out of my original spring seats.

I have original style (no grease fitting, dust seal with metal ring) tie rods. I may be interested in NOS if not too costly. I'd replace my rods before I'd pay a lot for a rubber seal. I need 2.
Another question: Some vendors carry a ball joint seal for both upper & lower, instead of different parts for each. Are there any issues with these as far as functionality goes?

I've been trying to get replacement dust boots for my ball joints and tie rod ends. VA Classic Mustang cancelled that part of my order because the backorder time was so long. So I reordered at Mustangs Unlimited and they have them listed as backordered. Is this the sort of part I'm likely to find at just a regular parts store, or maybe not because of their age? Are there suspension vendors that would be more likely to have it, like PST?
My ball joints were replaced about 15 years ago and don't have many miles on them. But I'm disassembling the whole suspension and that "pickle fork" used to pop the joints out is not kind to dust boots.

Well, the '65-only Hipo mounts are rare compared to some other things, like hipo heads. Thank goodness mine are still on my car or I'd never have them. A handy person could probably replicate some for a fraction of that, though.
