It is like selling a helmet and a jersey and calling it a football player.

My heater box has a couple of small cracks. One is near the upper hose connection, the other is on top of the vent door opening. What I'm wondering is if anyone has repaired these with a basic fiberglass repair kit, like the Bondo brand one found in stores. I've been told that there are different types of fiberglass resins and that the kit might not be compatible.

It makes more sense to me that the tape would not be intended to keep the lid on after the car was sold. More likely put it there after adding fluid at the factory to make sure no cars left the factory without the fluid added and lid screwed on tight. In other words, more of a production process item. They likely didn't care whether it was removed by the dealer or not since eventually someone would have to add fluid.

I always figure that the more the seller talks about it, the more caution you should exercise.

Or, C) Restore the A-code and enjoy it for a few months, then sell it and use the funds to buy sheetmetal for the K code. Now 2 cool Mustangs are kept on the road instead of killing either one and you don't have to justify the VIN.

Just a humble opinion here, but I think that if more than half of the bare shell needs replacement, the car probably should be totaled and crushed. That said, if the car's repair/restore history is documented, it shouldn't matter. There should be a "CarFax Report" for classic car restorations...
Voila! There's a business opening for anyone ambitious enough to do it...

What about the thicker 13/16ths sway bar, adding "balanced" to the fan description, and someting about the pinion snubber on the rear-end description?
I also believe that the Hipo exhaust mufflers were different than standard dual exhaust, but more knowledgeable folk here should be able to clarify that point.

Is it in the registry? Folks will want to know data codes...

Yeah, but you know that one of the "elites" on this site will snap it up anyway.

My kar had both rear quarters replaced about 18 years ago (not by me)due to the originals looking like they were all kicked in and rusty. I've since learned about the existance of the drain holes and the little rubber thing that screws on over them. Does someone have pictures of the holes with & without the rubber? I'm going to have to fix that along with all the other annoying little details, whenever I get back to it.

When I bought the car back in 1996, it had a very rusty, Ford stamped 2 muffler, 2 resonator exhaust system still on it.
There was a Ford tech service bulletin regarding cutting out the loud Arvinode mufflers and replacing them with quieter ones. It would be interesting to know if the car originally came with those rusty mufflers or if they were the service replacements. The transverse and Arvinode exhausts had a different tailpipe hanger than the later 2 muffler 2 resonator one, so that might be one way to tell.

"Tri-Y Headlights". Hmmmm.

This could lead to another segment of the hobby beyond "restomod" - taking an existing Mustang and modifying it to look like the old concept cars! I wonder if anyone has ever tried it. Remember in the '90s when they had the "Mach III" concept? That'd be cool.

I get so used to seeing photos of restored cars, whether that be concourse or Krylon, or cars that are rustbuckets or are being restored, that I am surprised when I see a Mustang out on the road that is clearly treated as just a used car.
I saw this one on my way home yesterday. It may have been repainted at one time, but the paint was very faded and was almost sunburned off of the roof. The driver's taillight did not work, the passenger's tailpipe smoked like crazy, but it seemed to run and drive great. It was a '66 GT (or GT clone). It had '60s/'70s style Cragar wheels.

Spent 3 hours scrubbing the front wheelwells of a car last year in a yard. You would have thought the circus had come to town with all the workers and other customers pointing and taking notice of what some "nut" was wasting his time with

I hadn't thought of that!

Would be nice to have some sort of handheld spectrometer that could analyze the color and emissivity without cutting out chunks. Especially if it could then translate it into paint/primer mix numbers.
