The seller lives close to me and we both work in the same local. He drove the kar in to work so that I could check it out. Presents nicely although has three scratches that should be fixed and a small dent on the rear of the roof. Slight rust on driver door and larger area of rust underneath on driver rocker panel. No vin on block that I could see, correct carb and heads. Did not check trans or rear end for tags - had my dress clothes on. Does have a scattershield. Almost positive it has new floors, quarters, outer wheel wells and does have rear frame rail extensions. Do not believe he sold the kar.

The first car built was 5F07F100001; therefore, the car you saw was the 5,735th car built. Ford had already begun building cars in early March.

I was simply trying to clarify one of the choices in a poll, not an actual outcome. Doesn't mean that is my position.
I have come across two re-bodies. On one, the seller was notified by the buyer that the car was a re-body, and a discount was given. Buyer kept the car. The other re-body car, the owner is trying to sell on this site.
Ralph, you need to take a chill pill.

K code and Shelby rebodied cars are OK to rebuild, so long as the original shell is not restorable and clearly stated in all advertising and pertinent documentation.

Data tag information is as follows:
76B 3 69 03T 61 5 5
Sold at Russo & Steele in January '07.

I believe this kar, actually rolling shell, was discussed here recently. The current seller added doors, fenders, hood, glass, and painted the floors. He removed the steering tag and unfortunately, the 9" rear end and corresponding tag. Previous owner says kar needs floors, toe boards and trunk work.

This has happened to me with two members of this board. The first time I had wired a down payment and was almost there with my trailer when he called and said he had changed his mind.
The second time, after agreeing to a price for the kar, I was to wire him $800 the following day as a down payment. When I called the next morning to get banking information, he said he had just sold it to his restoration shop. Not much integrity with either of these guys.

This car belonged to Burt Stacy. I believe he is a member. Very nice gentleman. Contact Burt, I'm sure he'll be glad to tell you all he knows about the kar.

Why doesn't the registry entry for 5R07K242883 list it as engine only? It shows all the codes, minus the trim code. I thought this was only done when the complete body exists. Engine only is noted as "@-engine only".

Owner says 5F09719981 and also states first 9 could be a point of contention as it could be an 8; however, sure looks like a 9 to me.

Looks like the new owner purchased another data tag to fix the I in the consecutive number. It is now a 1 instead of the incorrect I. It's too bad he didn't know enough to fix the date. Should be 03Q instead of 23F and it sure looks like car was a non original deluxe interior car since it doesn't have the door lights.

My '65 GT does not handle well with the dual red line bias ply tires. Traction when cornering is terrible! I'd go with the radials.

Gary,
Just received Branda's catalog and with it they sent a Christmas flyer with special deals through January 31, 2007. I just called Branda and the rep told me the wheels are made by Specialty Wheels and they've been using them for 15-20 years. The rep said the $499.95 is for customers that have ordered before or have recently received their catalog. There is a code on the flyer to be used when ordering. Still, the $550 price isn't too bad compared to what others are asking. Mustang Plus has them for $625, NPD for $723.

Tony Branda has a list price of $649.95 but a holiday sale price of $499.95 which includes 4 center caps and 20 lug nuts. The ad states exact repros, original style, show quality, correct paint. These are 14 x 5 size for 65 or 66 wheels. 1966 includes the trim rings. The 14 x 6 or 14 x 7 cost another $100.

Registry lists body color as R. If that's correct, guess they didn't like ivy green.

Does the sway bar have a ford part number stamped on it? Do the brackets and rubber bushings have part numbers on them?
Thanks, Alex
