Follow up question for these hipo emblems. Did the NOS ones (some/all) not come with the part number stamping? If some or all NOS came without the part number, how do you distinguish fomoco from repro? Thanks, Alex

This k fastback just sold, was listed on ebay. Talked to seller, he said kar was sold for $10500. Good price when compared to some of the very rusty kars that have sold over the last 2-3 years for more money. This kar should help give you some idea of the value of your kar. Alex

Not quite. Back on ebay!

Yes, not a GT and data codes provided in answer to a door tag question do not correspond to codes in the hipo registry. Color in the registry is X not A, DSO is 74 not 71 and axle is 5 not E. Makes you wonder. Also, I keep a database of 65 and 66 mustangs. My notes on this one say no engine. Even though I'm careful, mistakes can happen. The pictures provided for the trans and engine vins are fuzzy and unclear. How difficult or maybe I should ask how easy is it to re-stamp 45 year old cast iron?

This block and main caps just sold on ebay. Very good buy on the main caps. The block shows vin 5F09K397727, at least that's what I see, and the date code shows 5F7. The consecutive number ~ January 1965 does not jive with the June 7th date code. Comments?

Charles Turner,
In light of some recent uncalled for comments, I want to thank you for all of the insight, knowledge and sharing you have selfishly given to all of us K code lovers. There are many others on this site that deserve thanks as well. I've learned a lot from you and the many others. Charles, Thank you!

Just finished reading the latest issue of Mustang Monthly and wanted to give kudos to Craig Chesley (hipo site member) and his East Texas Mustang Club on their restoration for charity of a '66 GT convertible. Great job!!
-
VIN looks to be 5R07K138782.

New eBay listing. Buck tag has vin, difficult for me to make out.
-
VIN looks like 6R08K194906. It's in the registry and the data tag codes match what Orlando Mustang has written in his description.

Mark,
Maybe you have a hitchhiker. I think you have a Missouri mouse!
I stored the kar last winter in my shop on my farm in the Ozarks.

Bob, thanks for your response.

Was wondering if anyone could help identify three connecting rods. The rods all have C3AE on one side and 50 F CZY on the other side. The F is slanted and with a slanted square around the F, square covers the top of the F and cuts through the bottom half of the F. Another has 49 F CZA. Same square around the F. Third rod has GL 37A TV. All three have 3/8 bolts with the rectangular head, although I realize this can be modified. Anybody know what these rods are? Standard 289 rods? What letters/numbers, if any, appear on the side opposite the C3AE-D on the hipo rods? Thanks, Alex

I have two of these Carter O-1719. One I took off of a 66 289 Fairlane and is stamped with a 66 date. The other I think is from a 65. The bottom half of one is slightly longer than the other. Both are marked O-1719. Both have the same shaft number as listed above.

Before Rochester kar was in Iowa. Belonged to a site member. If memory serves me right, kar was originally Phoenician yellow.

The vin listed in the ad is 5F07K159833, not 159333.

Here's a car with some very good pictures of a palomino interior. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/…WAX%3AIT&viewit
To complete some comments to my above post, the luxury interior would also have the pony seats which have different seat buns and upholstery.
-
Shane,
Correction to my earlier response. D2 is white w/blue trim (not luxury). 62 is the blue w/white luxury interior (pony). Palomino is tan in my opinion. I'm trying to find a picture for you. If memory serves me right, the palomino luxury interior is all tan but with the pony door panels and door lights of course.
