Garth,
If this car has an October 21, 1964 proposed build date, should the vin indicate a 1965 model?

1965 K Code Hipo Fastback. The real thing and an investment grade car. The San Jose built fastback was restored from a virtually rust free Texas body and chemically dipped. Only one small section of a floor pan had to be replaced. It was an extremely sound body.
The body work on the car is a work of art that took 15 months to complete and is arrow straight. The restoration was done by an MCA Gold Card judge and to original specifications with the exception of the side exit exhaust exhaust system and Tri “Y” headers as used on the 1965 Shelbys. It provides a great sound that fits the muscle car image of the car. There is a set of Hipo exhaust manifolds that go with it.
The drive train is all original Hipo and although not original to the car, the engine and transmission are from the same donor car with matching VINs. The engine is freshly rebuilt to .030 over. The Hipo heads are matching date codes. The harmonic balancer is date matched and original Hipo and the alternator has been restored to Hipo specifications with the large pulley and Autolite stamp. The radiator is original to the car and has the San Jose markings including the date of 10-64 embossed in the top of the tank. The toploader four speed transmission is also freshly rebuilt. The Ford 9” rear end is a factory unit with 3:50 gear. Limited slip was added during the rebuild. The solid lifters sound like a symphony.
The car is, and has always been equipped with front disc brakes. I have owned the car for 5 years and the former owner out of Austin, Texas had the car for 17 years. The white interior is the original color and the seat belts have been correctly restored by Ssnake Oyl with date coded labels. The carb was rebuilt by Pony Carburetors. The car runs and drives as well as it looks. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it to the east or west coast. The undercarriage has been detailed and is great condition. It has new dual redline radial tires and styled steel wheels. No warranties are expressed or implied.

$1500 including the shifter.
If you type savethestangs in the search box, several threads will appear regarding 9" rear ends.
Nice looking coupe.

"1966 K code Ford Mustang Coupe. Older restoration. Engine is a correct K code engine but not numbers matching. Engine was overhauled when restored in 1986, rings, timing chain, bearings, new cam, carb by Pony Carbs. Tranmission is original 4 speed, rear end not original. Original floor pans, rear 1/4's. Color is correct Signal Flare Red, black Pony Deluxe interior. Front seat recovered, rear seat is original upholestry. Newer fuel tank, NIght/Day mirror, wood steering wheel, wood grain console, dash, glove box, factory 4 way flashers, dealer installed seat belts dated coded 1967, , left vanity mirror, factory front disc brakes, deluxe rims, newer correct plug wiring.Cobra style hood scoop was installed by original owner when new. It is a Ford documented add on part. Have copy of part number and order number from 66. I am 3rd owner. Original owner was son of local Ford dealer. He restored it in his shop in 1986 and I have driven it very little over the years since then. Cars shows and just enough to keep it running and lubed, roughly 1/2 tank of gas a year. Have original window sticker and lots of dealer documentaion. Dealer key FOB and dealership sticker on rear bumper. Always garaged by all owners. Shows well at car shows, always a conversation piece. Few coupes were loaded up like this".
I agree with Fred's comment regarding "amazing additions to the story". The previous seller made no mention of the racing history or documentation. In my opinion, the documentation pertaining to this kar is highly suspect.
Take a look at this ebay ad.

Seller has a K code title that he is selling with the car even though the car is not a K. Take a look at the last picture.
I had a full floor pan installed in my '66 c code fastback. No bracing was used and the floor and alignment turned out like new. The car was not moved around like you are planning to do for sandblasting.
Alex
What about cutting the date codes out of the fenders and hood and welding them into OEM parts if the correct date codes can't be found? Is this acceptable for Iowa and others restoring k codes?
Take a look at how someone ruined this car! Unbelievable what someone will do to try and make a buck. Floor pan work is just awful, not to mention the rest of the car.

For sale is my 1965 k-code mustang. I've had this car since 1979. This car is the real deal. It is not cherry, but the pieces and the #'s are here. This car still has original dash, head liner[needs repaired], seats and even buck tag on fender.
MOTOR
This is the original motor that was recently freshened-up do to sitting for an extended amount of time. Everything is correct on motor except tri-y headers. I do have the stock cast iron hi-pro manifolds.
TRANSMISSION
The car presently has a close ratio toploader with Hurst shifter. The original trans has been rebuilt with the shifter mounted. It is ready to be installed. Only thing needed is shifter handle, I could not find it.
REAR
Axle housing is original. Currently has a nodular case center section with 4:11 gears and 31 spline axles. I do have original center section with 3:50 gears and 28 spline axles.
EXTERIOR
Paint is white, not factory color, but still shines nicely after being on since 1983. Would not hurt to be repainted. Wheels are 16" Centerlines, which help it to look a little more current.
INTERIOR
Most wiring has been replaced, except under dash. I also could not find the radio. Head liner is original, but needs re-stitched. Still the original dash and is not cracked. Seats are original and in descent shape.
REASON FOR SELLING
This is my first car. I got it when I was only 15 years old in 1979. I absolutely love early mustangs. The thing is, I really want a pro street car and do not want to mess up a nice #'s matching car.
I believe this video has already been shown in this theater! ![]()
Very groovy! ![]()
My database shows 5F08K732569. Red w/red pony, full console, red rally pac. I do not show the complete data tag info. What I have is 15S build date, Boston DSO and 5 for trans, of course. It's not in the registry. Don't know how accurate all of this is, maybe something to go on.
Finally found that convertible K project I've been looking for!

Fred,
You may have answered this in a previous post. How much to restore? Any discount for two? Thanks, Alex
Check this out on ebay. Although I agree that removal and replacement would be tricky.
Am interested in the early gold base with single indentation. Thanks, Alex
The date code on the apron and other areas of the car matching up with the November vin have been pointed out to the seller, but hey, he's got a prototype fastback! Anything to maximize the profit. First time he offered it on ebay, if memory serves me correctly, he wanted $14000!
How about a restoration book for 65 and 66s from Charles, Fred, Jeff and company? ![]()
