I just had my heads done and ended up needing to replace some of the rockers so I went ahead and replace them all.

The machine shop that I use assured me that they could get exact OEM replacement rockers.

They got me Clevite # 214-1029 (23-836) rockers and they look great, they are NOT 100% exactly like Fords, but I'd say like 97% the same.

They also had a listing for Seald Power rockers, again NOT 100% exactly the same as Ford's but again about 97% the same, the part # R-836 I do have a complete set of 16 factory original rockers in which about 8 have been determined to be in need of replacement if someone needs them.

The 289HP rockers ARE DIFFERENT than standard 289 rockers as outlined in Tony Gregory's book 4th edition on page#21

Just wanted everyone to know what a pleasure it was to receive my beutiful correct as stated cast iron water pump (C5OE-8505-B)for my July 1965 built "K" code from Fred, this will be one of the crowning pieces of my engine!!

Can't wait for my 3939 S fuel pump to be done!!!

    Thanks Fred!!!!

OK, So at some point in time someone deceided to reproduce the canister and just by the seat of his pants deceided to do it in RED with WHITE lettering....why would someone do this--reproduce a canister in a color that evedentally was never used on a vehicle from the factory??? STUPID!!!

I did a search for 1965 Mustang fuel pump canister on Google, and came up with New England Mustang Supply.

They have pictured the reproduction RED canister that looks correct to me-like my beat up original at the bottom.

I am very surprised that a large outfit like NPD doesn't carry this canister, but carries a repro that has the large HEX on the bottom which the MCA rules say may not be used.

Again I ask EXACTLY WHAT YEAR/CAR is the RED canister with WHITE writing reproduced/correct for?? anyone know??

Well if the White with Red lettering was/is so versitle and used as everyone says they were why are THEY not reproduced?? what was the Red with White lettering used on?? it seems kind of stupid to have to buy a Red one and then paint it and buy a decal with White lettering to put on it.

Is this a copyright thing as to why the folks that reproduce them had to swap the colors??

It is my understanding that the correct WHITE canister with RED decal/lettering IS NOT REPRODUCED.

I can't understand this......they are reproduced in RED with WHITE decal/lettering.....is the 289 HIPO the only engine that uses the WHITE canister?? I've ordered a RED one and will paint it WHITE and add the RED decal......what is the closest white paint color to use??

I just looked at the info on thr 2006 MCA rules and it says that 1965 alternators may not have a stamp, so I am not going to worry about a stamp for mine, if anything I will add it later IF judges say its loosing points without it.

Otherwise, I have built a correct alternator for about 1/2 what all the pretty ones go for!

I contacted Bob Mannel via Email and he said to the best of information he had was that ALL alternators installed at the factory on 1965 cars DID NOT have any stamps, but due to failures into the 1966 year any 1965 cars received a stamped 1966 alternator as a "service replacement" at the Ford dealer, so then THAT given 1965 car indeed had a stamped (1966) alternator, Bob went on to say I should find 3-4 KNOWN UNMOLESTED ORIGINAL cars and take it from there with my findings and procede acordingly.
