It looks to me like it is a standard 289 service replacement pump...the seller says he bought it from Ford about 20 years ago.
may be someone else has anouther opinion??

I just read in the SEPTEMBER issue of Mustang Monthly on page 80 an article titled "REPLACEMENT FILTERS" and it says cars up to may 1965 should use the RED Rotunda, and from then on should use the GOLD Rotunda filter, and being is how my July 1965 was put into service on August 11, 1965, and IF the original owner drove the car the first 6k miles and had the oil changed at a Ford dealer probably sometime in early 1966 he would have surely gotten the GOLD one, so thats what I am going to use on mine.
I remember some years back that there were some cheapie filters with no real brand name on them that had the double crimp....I wonder IF those filters could be found? I wonder IF we could find some way to double crimp a Wal-Mart FL-1A then paint in Block color??

What is this fan original to?

My July 1965 K Convertible's from the Dearborn plant DOES NOT have the stamped "G" so it looks like I'm good to order a repro from Marti!
-
Heck, for that kind of money I'd be happy to use a common Motorcraft FL-1A from Wal-Mart & loose a couple of points!
-
I'll try and do a photo (closeup) of the LM/DC cable's foam, I have never posted a pic on here before and am not sure how to do it.
-
I am not sure about the David Kee shifter setup,I had a fantastic experiance with Bill Heeley in Olney, Maryland, he is the Ford shifter pro!! (301)774-6710

I got my cable yesterday from LM (Daniel Carpenter repro) and it looks good to me, but I have nothing here to compair it to though.
The foam is about 3" long and has a smooth finish on the outside, and a sort of grommet inside thats about 1/2" long, the foam is loose on the cable-I guess thats so you can slide it to where you want it when installing it.
I am now going to order a couple of pieces from Mac's and see what that looks like, I am also having my restorer send me me NOS cable that I bought so I can compair IT to the DC repro.

Thanks, Fred for the link!! I am wondering now if the factories made the "standard" ratio tags for the rears ahead of time, then when someone ordered the no cost upgrade to 3.89 or 4.10 gesrs that they didn't bother to make new tags to reflect the ratio that was in fact in the Kar?? anyone have a 3.89 or 4.10 gear in a rear end with a 3.50 tag??
-
Getting ready to order new tags from Marti for my '65 K Convertible.
I just found my ORIGINAL tag and it reads:WCZ-H on first line, then on second line it reads:3.50 5GC921, and acording to Tony's HIPO book the WCZ-H is for a 3.89 ratio, my ORIGINAL data plate indicates a "5" under the axle code, I don't have the ORIGINAL 3rd member here with me to phsycally check the ratio, also IS the date code correct for a July 1965 Kar??
I also just read down at the bottom of page 72 in the 4th edition book that:"Its been reported on our website by several members that their '65 axle tags used the WCZ-H code for a 3.50 open ratio??" so I guess there are more folks out there with this same tag as mine?? anyone actually have a 3.89 ratio in their Kar when they checked??
I'm going to have my restorer check mine!

Not meaning to hijack this thread but does the correct mounting bolt come with the reproduction cable?
-
Fred, Thanks for the update!! I wonder if you should may be advertise somewhere as to what you are doing with these pumps? I would think that with all the members here, and all the Kars registered that there would be more people needing the sealed 1965 and 1966 pumps done than the number you've already got.
I for one can live without my pump until early October-longer if absolutely nessessary, but we're trying to ready my Kar for the Hershey show.

I understand that the 43 year old BF32 plugs that are selling for sometimes BIG $$ will "blow out" as in blow the porcelan off?? anyone had this happen??
-
How about the repro foam from Mac's?? anyone tried it? Its sure good to hear that the one I BOUGHT TODAY from LMM is a good piece!!
-
Very cool!!! Welcome to the site Bill!!!

Thanks for the replies and suggestions!! any idea of how much the Fairlane 4speed with the cheapo Hurst Indy shifter would be worth as a core for rebuild?? (It has 1 ear broken off, but not into oil)
-
may be I'll have to build a crate out of plywood?
-
I have actually 2 transmissions I am going to sell, 1 is an RUG-AH Toploader 4speed for a 1969 Fairlane 351 application, the other is a HEF-CW 3speed toploader for a 1966 Mustang 289 application.
My question is how do I package these for safe shipping? I recently had MY HIPO toploader rebuilt by David Kee, and used his special container to ship mine both ways, that was very cool, but now selling my 2 used transmissions requires me to pack them up, any suggestions?

Just to clairify Laurel Mountain Mustang is selling the COMPLETE speedometer cable WITH the foam on it, and again, claim that it IS EAXCT reproduction!
