So I can expect to pay $200-$300 for a Dearborn or Metucheon 4 speed core-(that needs to be recored) and may be upwards of $500. for a San Jose unit because they are also the ones used in Shelbys??
These are all 2 row units-right?? Thanks!
Is the PH and Email system through the site working now?? how would we know if it isn't? would a message come back??
Order the "clone" Autolite 4100 HIPO from Pony you won't be sorry!!
Jon has done 3 carbs for me including 2 4100s and 1 Carter AFB, all perfect, all perform better than any Holley I've ever had.
Charles, I think I'd like to try & find a Westinghouse original if I can, my car is being built to concours trailered specs. Thanks!Rick
OK, I've found out that I have a mis-matched set of originals, 1 Tung-Sol, and 1 Westinghouse, so if anyone can use 1 or both of these to put with anouther you have or anyone has 1 or the other they would like to sell me that would be great either way!
In other words I need to end up with a matched set-brand wise.
Will I loose points in concours if I install Halogens??
Thanks Guys!!!!! Good info!! Next question: are the repros halogen or just standard old fsshioned seald beams?
So if I install 2 matching TUNG-SOL headlights with the FOMOCO script etched in the center of the lens on my July 1965 Mustang no one will question the originality of them??
And one more time....do what ever brand the repros are have the FOMOCO script on them?? I would think if they do they would have to be licensed from FORD??
I know there is no direct cross reference for the BF32 but understand that the Autolite 45 is equivellent to the BF42.
So no one has had any trouble with using OLD NOS BF32s--with them coming apart while running??
Murf, Thanks for the great info as always!!
Idiot that I am I already cleaned up the headlight and removed the writing on the back which did say made for Ford.....
There was a date as far as I can remember of 1960 or 61 (this one came from a 1962 Falcon that I had some years ago that I saved the headlight for my K code.
I'm seeing that it says "FOMOCO" on the front center of the lens and I think its etched much like writing is on windsheilds, and NOT stamped/embossed into the glass, I have anouther one of these at my restorers place and have him checking it to see if it matches the one I have....BTW they BOTH work on low and high beams!!-I think with a little more cleaning and polishing that these headlights will work great in my Kar!
Do the repros have "FOMOCO" on the lens? what brand is most common in repros?
My restorer tells me that hes had 2 sets-(not sure if it was all 8 plugs)(I think it was the ones with the stars)come apart on him with the engine running causing major damage in the engine compartment.
I am led to believe by this info that we should not run our engines with these NOS OLD BF32s installed......
What plug is everyone running in their K engines-any problems running OLD NOS BF32s??
Yea, one of mine is from a '62 Falcon as well.
I am told that the new repros are Wagner, and I don't think they were around back in the early 60s making headlights anyway, and I don't know if they have the Ford script or not.
I have a set of what I believe are original Tung-Sol brand seald beam headlights with the "FORD" script in the center of the lens.
I am trying to find out if these were original to 1965 Mustangs, and if any headlights are reproduced with the "FORD" script logo on them??
What exactly is wrong with your heads? Mine were pretty bad off as well and one shop I took then to wanted to just trash them and replace them with "some 289 heads" but I wouldn't let that happen and took it to anouther shop which completely rebuilt them with all new valves, springs, guides, seals, rockers, and some machine work to remove heavy rust from the area where the intake would sit, and also milled the surface where the head meets the block, I don't know if there was anything that they did not do, again they were pretty rough, but we saved them, get yourself anouther opinion!!
Thank You, Marv, and Hank and Gene for all YOU have done for the site, I am glad to be part of it!
Happy Holidays to everyone!! 2009 has got to be better!! Rick
The one we have is the vinylite one.
Yea, right move!! BTW do you know about the Ford truck website?? http://www.ford-trucks.com very good site!!
Fred, I almost forgot about the small metal tags with the key codes on them....I wonder if anyone is re-making these?? Do you think that the cheapie key rings had the paper-like labels with them that had spaces for year, make, model, stock#, color, ect?? and might they have been white or yellow? I've done a search and found both in the type I think you are speaking of.
Does anyone remember what type dealer key rings Ford used back in the 60s when our cars were new? I think it would be neat to have a couple of these to put keys on for shows...
