I was wondering if it would be practicial to start a "Transportation Network" for helping one anouther to get parts, cars, and even each other from one place to anouther, I think this could work out well if a member was going near where someone needed parts or what ever to go, and we all would be alot more careful than the commercial shippers with out valuable parts.

    Comments?? Ideas??

Thanks!!! This is great!!!! I only have seen pictures of my engine with the repro wires installed and they do look a little long but not gross, I guess I'm kind of used to seeing the result of even a high-quality "exact-fit" wire set from the discount chains installed on every day drivers anymore.

What I am wondering now is CAN we cut the wires down without comprimising the lettering or number that is stamped on them.

I sure will check NAPA out!!

OK, Thanks!!! I wonder if there is any way to shorten the wires satisfactorially (sp) I know years ago that there were tools on the market and the fittings available so folks could make their own wires-kind of a crimper type tool, its my guess that Marti's quality control has gotten out of hand just like lots of reproduction manufacturers out there, its kind of hard to keep the quality up paying people minimum wages to do this type of work.

In nearing completion of my restoration we are finding out that the reproduction wires that I bought from NPD are a little too long.

I understand that Marti made these wires, and it has been suggested that perhaps they were mis-marked and were actually made for a different engine and marked with all the proper numbers for a 1965 Hipo engine.

Has anyone else discovered this? I bought these wires 8 months ago from NPD in Florida.

Last I heard that the Caspian Blue wasn't available in the newer Base-Coat/Clear-Coat system, that was 2 years ago, but I would think that by now the paint manufacturers would have figured it out-I think Caspian Blue is a beutiful color on early Mustangs, and the Nightmist Blue on 1966s is a close second.

In having my '65 "K" Convertible restored we have used some repro stuff, some NOS stuff and refinished and cleaned up some used/old stuff, as it turned out I found a (to me) correct looking jack in my stash of parts and sent to my restorer for "restoration" it looks like the ones in the pictures above and DOES have the course thread,I would have to say that if I hadn't found this jack that I would most likely have bought a repro and been done with it, I could care less what the date code is on the jack I found is-it sits below the spare tire and as long as there is a reasonabe looking jack in there thats all I am worried about--I did however spend the money and got an extra SS wheel and dual redline bias-ply tire for my spare!

Thanks everyone, and espessely FRED!! Nate ended up having the RH one and I got the very last (Ford Tooling) LH out of NPDs California warehouse today.

I also had some corespondence with Rick Schmidt of NPD Ocala, Florida, and he said that there really was no such thing as "Ford Tooling" seat side sheilds, but that MANY MANY years ago that Daniel Carpenter bought every last one that FORD had and re-packaged them adding the "Ford Tooling" sticker to them, when in reality they ARE original FORD pieces. anyway, I am all set, Thanks again!!

This is very interesting so far....a 1966 with a GOLD base, and a 1965 with a BLUE base, sure is conflicting with what is printed in our "Bible" and I must say I've seen more BLUE bases at the shows than the GOLD, the one we are trying to use IS a repro that IS BLUE and we are going to paint it the GOLD......I think...

I went to the auction today (Saturday) and there was 1 white 64.4 K convertible with red interior, looked pretty good-only thing I noticed was I don't think the fuel pump was correct....I thought it should have the screw together one and it appeared to be seald....

I didn't wait for it to go through the auction to see what it brought, and even forgot to check the VIN.....

It is my understanding that ALL 1965 K engines that were obviously black from the factory would have had GOLD bases on the chrome air cleaner....I thought I read somewhere that sometime in '65 the went to the BLUE ahead of time, my car was built in LATE JULY 1965.
