What size are the standard rear brakes on a 9" rear end in a 1965 K code? 9X1-1/2" or 10X1-3/4" ?
-
Looking at the vent fittings in the VA Mustang catalog...which one is correct (page 168) for my 1965 original 9" ??
-
What BLACK one do I need the FOMOCO SCRIPT or BLOCK letters?? both are listed as '65-'66 in the VA Mustang catalog.
Keep in mine that my car had a scheduled build date of July 27th 1965.....and FYI: I have THE original owners manual with the first owners info all typed in by the dealer and it WAS delivered to him on August 11, 1965 so the build date scheduled couldn't have been off too much....

I am not understanding what the poll is for exactly??
-
Perfect!!! Thanks!! & enjoy the ride if thats what you are planning on doing!!

Gene, Any chance you could shoot a measurement on yours?
-
Thanks Fred for the info, I think I'm ok with the one I have, I don't plan on running with the incorrect gear in it for long.

OK Guys, I have found my ORIGINAL (I think) speedo cable gear from my K: It has 17 teeth, and is the LH rotation-looks like the LH one in the pic in the NPD catalog execpt mine has teeth where the one in the NPD catalog shows smooth.....I am looking at mine now and there seems to be a "17 P" stamped on the top is this for 17 teeth-purple?
Would using an incorrect (possibly a RH rotation) let the speedo still work but erracticly??

OK, Thanks Jim!! Rick

My car has been equipped with a glove box light during its restoration, looks like the switch is there and the "lens" thats attached to the box liner but no light when I open the door...how do I check to see if there IS a bulb in the socket or the wireing?? do I need to remove the liner?
-
I have measured mine and only have about 10 3/4" 11" from the front of the door to the base of the mirror......my mirrors are way forward from what is pictured here....I'm wondering if the installation varied from plant to plant?? all I know is that my vents won't open, and basicly both mirrors are pretty much useless in a driving situation.
I guess there is a fairly large hole for the cable in the door for the left one, and that IT will be the most challenging to move back...I hate drilling more holes but I think the old ones will be covered....

How late were the red/brown ones considered correct?
-
I thought so! I guess the red/brown ones are for earlier cars? this was my mistake-I insisted that my restorer put the red/brown one on my car.......anyone want to trade a black correct repro for a new red/brown correct repro??
-
Cobraboy, Hey, Thanks for the pictures and measurements.
Fred, Thanks for the suggestion.
I am going out to take a look at mine and measure to see whats going on.
My drivers side remote is semi-ok rear view wise, but the passengers side is worthless right now-I was planning on putting the stick-on convex mirror on IT after all my showing and judging is done when I start driving my car-they really help!
-
That is a S/J car by the looks of the radiator......everyone agree with this routing??
-
And may be whats under your bonnet, or inside your boot.....
-
What color should the starter solinoyd be on my JULY 1965 DEARBORN built Kar?
-
Mark, I think my mirrors are Scott Drake reproductions I did not buy them direct-my restorer got them from his wholesale supplier-I understand that they came with a template that is used for proper placement.
I would be interested to know if your remote on the drivers side IS original and how far back from the front edge of the door it is mounted, and if the vent window hits it or not?
My restorer says they used the template that came with the mirrors, but they feel that the repros head is thicker than the originals causing mine to come into contact with the vents.

Guys, Thanks for the comments and replies! I feel a bit better now, I had never heard of any of this stuff before & have seen plenty of cars being driven with the parts that seem to be of concern.....
