OK, I believe I've answered my own question: I do not believe that the '65-'66 Mustangs use this plate as there is no "step-up" on the guide pin for this plate nor is there any room for it to fit there with the springs installed.
I do have anouther spring question: (its been a while since I've replaced brake shoes on an early Mustang or any other car for that matter)(and I'm starting from scratch with a restored rear end) I need to know which spring is the primary and what spring is the secondary-they look alike but 1 is obviously hevier? and I can't tell from the pictures I have which one is which.

My question is were these things used in/on '65s? this is the odd shaped plate that is used on some Ford products I've seen that kind of holds the brake shoes together at the top-slips over the anchor pin before the 2 springs go on.Thanks!

Very nice fine indeed!!!! its definatly a sleeper looking K for sure!
Congrats & enjoy!!!

I was told that the convertible top frame WAS originally E-coated and mine was re-E-coated during the restoration....(July 1965 Dearborn car)
-
I would think so, so everything would look balanced.

I am glad to see/hear that the Arvinode system has been reproduced for those with the earler cars!!! sounds great!!!
-
Thank You!! Well said!!!

I have bought the AMK BLACK one from NPD-it has the "FOMOCO" SCRIPT lettering on it on the lower left corner, "RBM" on the lower right, and "2701966" on the top, this is all on the top of the unit read from the side that attaches to the fender apron, it also has tooth washers on the battery cable terminals.....I thiught it should have the built-in (attached to the nuts)flat washers.....this thing carries NPD # 11450-1B and has what looks line an old Ford part number of B6AZ-11450-SRP on the box.....is THIS the most correct repro that I can get then??
-
I don't think that Motive is making the repro Arvinode system either, I guess I was just trying to give the guys at Motive a little credit for the great system that they supplied for my car.
-
Sounds GREAT!!!! My later repro system from Motive Industries sounds just as good!!

Not having ever held one of each style in my hand what purpose does the tab serve?

Looks like Dave has had some luck in finding a copy of the STANDARD mirror template........Would anyone have a copy of the one for the DeLuxe remote & possibly the rh manual one?? Thanks!!

You know this brings up a good point I think:
Back in the 60s on the assembly line I think the folks slapping our cars together never ever thought in a million years that WE would be restoring them as we are today, and certainly never gave it a thought about how they applied a decal, sticker, or even how they alligned a body panel, or even how much dum-dum putty they applied in areas of a given car, I think these cars were very primitive at best and what we are trying to do today is duplicate that primitiveness (if thats a word)and sometimes thats harder than just spending hours lets say measuring known original cars for "correct" placement of these stickers, and alligning body panels that sometimes can't be made perfect....

Well I ended up going with the 29/32" size mainly because the 27/32" one was generic and fit both sides while the 29/32" were side specific and besides whats a couple of 32nds between friends?? (LOL)
-
Thanks, I believe I've located the correct one
-
I notice that the one in the picture is installed vertically and mine was installed horizontally- does it matter? or is it possibly assembly plant specific?
-
May be watch Ebay for a junker to buy for parts???
-
Is it 27/32" or 29/32" for the standard brakes on a 1965 9" HIPO rear end??
-
Fred, I am looking at the catalog again and I see the one I believe you are talking about-its #SU552, listed for '65-'73 "Use with all rear brake hoses execpt BK-111" now I'll have to see what rear brake hose #BK-111 is Rick
UPDATE: Their BK-111 hose IS for 6cyl & 289 2v & SINGLE EXHAUST 4v, and I am using their BK-112 that indicates '65-'66 289 HIPO some 289 4v with factory dual exhaust.Rick
