Jon Enyeart (sp) the owner of Pony Carbs has done 3 carbs for me in the past including a 1957 WCFB from our '57 Chevy, a standard 4100 Autolite, and most recently my Autolite 4100 Hipo re-creation, all have been great! Jon even called me personally to talk about how great he thought my WCFB for the Chevy was.

There HAS been some negitive comments over at the VMF concerning Jon's attitude and HE PERSONALLY logged on and apologised to everyone and said he'd try very hard to correct his ways-(I never had him display an attitude with me)(may be it was with folks who called and didn't even know what a carb was)In any case I think you should let Jon do a carb for you and give him a chance, I would also recommend that you have your engine ready to run when you get your carb so you can test-run it right away-all 3 of mine came out of the box adjusted perfectly!

I think Charles is right about Randy Stone restoring this car, I had spoken with Randy a few years back about doing my K and he sent me pictures of this car-that was about 2004ish-I think the car was recently finished back then, I have heard nothing but good about Randy and feel that the car is pretty near perfect!

I do wonder about the fuel pump on the engine....shouldn't it be a button top 3939S? thats what mine has.....

I hope the new owner finds our great site and comes and joins us!

Bob, There is no real way of knowing how many came from the factory with the 4.11:1 gear set as Ford destroyed all the records for '65 and '66

Also in Tony's book there IS a chart that shows there are 30 cars for a total percentage of 2.96-I am just not clear if this is for all 3 years ('65-'66-'67) or just '65....its on page 153 of the 4th edition....

I just went and looked at Tony's Hipo book, fourth edition, page 72, and is shows that the 4.11:1 ratio was available as a "no cost" option in an "open" carrier. The code for the 4.11:1 ratio in Open form is "9" on the data plate on the drivers door, and the tag on the rear end itself would need to show WCZ-J for the 4.11:1 open unit.

Limited Slip was not an option until 1966.

I have to wonder where the power steering came from too....

What makes you so sure that your Kar is not a factory GT? I believe that there have been a few documented that were built in February of 1965, I know that the magic April 17 date (one year after the first introduction of the Mustang in 1964) is when Ford officially introduced the "Pony" interior and the GT package but again there are many legitimate factory built GTs built before that.

I agree with the stripe color issue-to match it to the interior, however I went with a RED stripe on mine as my Kar is tripple Black and I don't think a Black stripe would have shown up very well.

There was anouther thread a while back with a link to youtube where someone was driving a Mustang with the Arvinode system-sounded awsomme!!! I think that if your car is early enough to have come from the factory with the Arvinode system you should install the new reproduction system.

Trim Parts IS better than ACC but evedentally still requires alot of fitting and trimming to get it installed to look right, my restorer originally tried ACC and literally jerked it out and went with the Trim Parts carpet--I was originally led to believe that the T P carpet was far-far superior but its clear to me that IT needs lots of fitting and trimming too!

I have read and re-read the information in BOB Mannels book about the sending unit size and I have determined that my engine IS correct in having the bushing installed so it can use the smaller 1964 sending unit, the intakes for 1965s were prepped for the larger sending unit so the hot/cold sending unit for Galaxies could be used.

I hate to remove the bushing which in my case is correct as my intake has a correct date code for my car/engine, again LATE 1965 (JULY)just to be able to use the larger sending unit-is anyone having a problem with the smaller unit making the guage read correctly or is it just the larger one?

I have a LATE '65 (July) and it has the correct intake on it with the bushing to use the smaller 3/8" threaded sender-right now my guage is not working-my restorer said the culpret most likely was the aftermarket sender I got from NPD that is the problem, should I get anouther new sender unit from NAPA and try it? should I expect if it works then for it to read correctly?

My car came from the factory with the console, I personally think it adds a nice touch to the car, its just that the darn thing was installed off center, I don't know how it was but it was, I have viewed literally hundreds of early Mustangs since my first one that I bought back in 1973 and most of them that have consoles have been installed basicly centered between the seats.

I just want to fix this and move on and I asked for opinions from members that HAVE consoles in their cars so I could determine what is a correct installation and what is not.

Charles: The "hump" in my car was replaced so I am assuming that the console had to be installed from scratch.

Like I said I think its best left to an upholstery expert which I have right here in town that I have been dealing with for over 20 years that I am sure can straighten the carpet, boot, and console out for me.
