Perfectly fine to use a tender on the Optima ones-I have a tender on mine in the Mustang and 1 on my Wife's '57 Chevy Belair.

I think if you are striving for the original look for show judging the reproduction battery from Antique Battery in Ohio is the one to use....its the 24F series unit and can be had in the form or the original lead/acid or one with an Optima battery inside the case-this is the one that I would recomend so there will not be a chance of leakage.
Just a reminder though: The one with the Optima inside ABSOLUTELY CANNOT be jump started with anouther vehicle or a jump box as doing so will destroy it and they will not warranty it-it says so in the paperwork that comes with it but you really have to look for it...

Thanks Charles!! Where did Fred's post/reply go? I didn't dream it did I?
So the 2 bolt pump was used, it sounds like at the very end of the '66 production run?? was it used on other Ford products as well then??
-
Is there a time frame as to when Ford switched to the "2 bolt" type washer pump over the earlier "3 bolt"?
Again, I am referencing the VA Mustang catalog and they indicate that the 3 bolt unit was used from 64.5-66, and the 2 bolt unit looks to be '66 only.....unless Ford made a switch late in the '65 model year......
VA seems to be indicating that the earlier 3 bolt unit was used with single speed wipers and the later 2 bolt unit was used with 2 speed wipers......

Thanks guys very much!! Its just a simple matter that during the installation of the exhaust system on my car during restoration these 2 uniquely different sets of clamps were reversed-EH-53s are on the front at the intermideate pipe and the EH-931s are in the rear at the extensions-no biggie, I'll just crawl under the car and swap them!
AND: THANKS Brant for the pics!!!! You guys there at VA Mustang were certainly a pleasure to deal with during my cars restoration, and I will be putting in a small order of little stuff soon as I do some fine tweeking on it.

It has been my understanding that in the 64.5s and 65s Ford only offered Black and White tops, it wasn't until '66 that they offered a Tan top.....I know that "earlyk" is an authority on 64.5s-he may know something different that I do....
-
Wow! I guess this one is a stumper....I wish I knew how to post a link to the pics in the VA catalog for reference.....
Charles, This is the clamp you pointed out at Charlotte on my car, and I am just now getting into investigating....I couldn't see what you ment until I printed out a picture and took it out to the car with me....

Jeff, Yours sounds like a GREAT truck!! I love my 7.3!!
BEST TUNER for them is the "DP" Diablo Preditor-I think they are called....check in with the guys over at the site I mentioned.....I haven't chipped mine yet either, but I've added a coolant filter system, and a HPX line, done a water pump, and basic maintenance-my LATE '99 has only 87k original miles.....this is what I pull my trailer that I haul the Mustang with....
-
I think you got one of the later 6.0s......have you had much trouble with it?-I have a friend who bought an '04 (early) and it was in the dealership more than he had it for the first year...
Please come and join us over at http://www.ford-trucks.com anouther great forum like this one!

Anyone else have one? I've got a very sharp 1999 F350 Crew Cab F350 Dually with the 7.3 Turbo Diesel engine......

I am looking at pictures in the current VA Mustang catalog of the EH-53 clamp and it is the more rounded one and it states they are used for holding the rear exhaust extensions in place-I'm assuming either the GT or standard dual exhaust tips? are these clamps in fact the correct ones to use in this location?
Also they list the EH-931 clamp which is the more flat one and state that its used to hold the "H" pipe and the intermideate (sp) pipes together...is this in fact correct info?
The reason I ask is that if the info that VA is listing is correct then the 2 sets of clamps were switched as my cas was restored-simple fix but wanted to confirm.

I've noticed the slowdown in traffic too....may be some folks are attending shows?

I think in this case new is not better for the VMF......I am also a member of http://www.ford-trucks.com and the owner sold it to a big organization about 3 years ago and it was a real pain to use the site for a couple of weeks after that....
-
I found this too, I had to log in and everything was ok-hadn't had to log in for quite some time otherwise may be its the new format?

Charles, Thanks for this info!! I learned something new (to me!) today.

I'd like to add my .02 in that just how much I appreciate all that Charles has done for me regarding my car- he was kind enough to look my freshly restored car over and render his expert opinion on several items which needed to be corrected/changed/adjusted/replaced, ect, there is a reason that Charles holds the position in the MCA that he does because he is an expert as far as I am concerned.
I had the pleasure of meeting hin at the Charlotte show last April and what an asset to our hobby he is!!
Charles: Next time we meet dinner is on me!!!! Rick

Did the VIN sequence change in '67?? I thought it should read 7F09K for the fastback body style??

I have a very nice repro on mine and it looks pretty good, I can look for my paperwork and see what supplier it came from if you like...
-
Are there any more larger pictures anywhere so we can all see what bigal is saying about not being restored correctly?
-
I saw the car go off the block for $33,000 and the balance between that and $36,500 was buyers and sellers fees I think....not sure where $45K came from....
Bigal:Have you seen this car in person? I am curious because in the small pictures I have seen it looks pretty nice.....I'm sure its not perfect but yet again none are.
