Charles, You DO seem to remember my car pretty well...you saw the stripes on my rear springs...what are THEY typical of-anouther assembly plant besides Dearborn? earlier cars? later cars? I wonder why my restorer elected to do the markings like he did?

Anouther FYI about Jack at Dead Nuts On is that he will have concours correct washer hose kits available early next year I'm told, and I think he is even going to reproduce the correct clear Ts- I understand he will have kits for all years from '65-'73-I hope to be the first to buy one for my car!
-
Just an FYI while we are talking about drive shafts: Jack at Dead Nuts On builds very nice reproduction drive shafts, top quality!!
-
Jeff, Thanks!! Its my understanding that Krylon is an enamel paint in the spray cans.....and Charles suggested lacquer thinner to remove what is on my springs now in a different location-is it assumed then that the stripes that I have are done in lacquer??
-
Thanks AGAIN Charles!! Its all in the details!!
-
I believe that Charles is right about the tires....I think they are all the same brand to brand in the reproductions.....
I still say that the BF GOODRICH 695X14s that are on my K Mustang should really be on a GM or Chrysler product from the same time period and I should have the US ROYALS.....I wonder why whom ever is reproducing these tires doesn't have the correct wording on the sidewalls??
-
Charles, Thanks for posting the pics!! were you able to find the set that you were looking for??
-
I heard a few months ago that Jim at Shelby Parts was going to have these reproduced.....might want to check with him....
-
I wonder why such a large community of (Mustang) people having the same results and comments about carpet in general that someone doesn't recognise this and try to make better quality and better fitting stuff-I personally don't think its practical to pay $1k plus for carpet-(mine is done mind you) but there are thousands of cars (Mustangs included) being built each year and I have got to believe that all the other folks are having the same issues too.

What can I use to remove the markings that are on my springs at present? what type and colors of spray bomb paint should I use to apply the new markings?
Charles, You have a good memory about my car! you are correct that its a Dearborn car with a scheduled build date of July 27, 1965....do we know what say an early '66 Dearborn car would have had?-still the same markings?
-
OK, Thanks Fred!! I've never seen a set of repros in person.
-
My suggestion based on experiances we had during the restoration of my car is to have an upholstery shop supply the carpet and provide the installation, I think that would be the best.
-
Charles, Hey, Thanks for sharing the pics!! How do you plan on duplicating these marks after you restore the springs? just curious as I plan on correcting the marks that were put on my springs.
-
May I jump in a minute and ask a question about the repro manifolds?
I understand that besides the obvious difference in quality
that the repros do not have any date codes or part numbers on them...is this a fact? Thanks!
-
I'm thinking that earlyk will know the right answer to your question.

Quote from club 33
quote:
a clip
to hold the cable attached to the shock tower to fire wall
brace on the passenger side.

The clip appears to be the same one that holds the parking light wire at the front of the car and the gas tank sending unit wire under the car near the sending unit.

I never noticed that before-pretty cool.
-Brant
Anyone have a picture of exactly where this clip is attached? my car doesn't have one......
-
Brant, Any idea as to who actually makes them? wonder if YOU could pursuade them to reproduce the HIPO one?
-
Brant, Thanks for your reply!! I thought the HIPO spacer was a bit thinner than the standard one-I guess because of the size of the fan?
I wonder if there is enough demand for whom ever has reproduced the 2 1/4" one to tool up and make the 2 1/16" for the HIPOs?? glad I have my original!
-
I am seeing that the 2 1/4" fan spacer is being reproduced now, I believe the one for the HIPO is a different thickness though, but I am unsure....I have my correct original spacer on mine but wondered just how close this repro is/would be once installed for those of you that don't currently have an original??

I have been told by many, and have read recently in Mustang Monthly that US Royal was the ONLY supplier to Ford of these tires back in 1965-66, I understand that the MCA is considering changing the rules soon to include a 2 point deduction for incorrect brand of tire, does anyone know where the information that the MCA or anyone else gets regarding the proper tires comes from? is it stated in a Ford publication from 1965-66?
My restorer must have not known about this at the time he purchased my tires from Coker as Coker carries 3 brands of 695X14 Dual Redlines-US Royal, Firestone, and BF Goodrich-I guess the Coker rep that was at the trailer at the show didn't know either....
