From all the information I've seen on the '65s (Late '65) I am convinced that the originals were only stamped on the bottom, with a date stamp on the top, so thats what I did with mine.

I was under the impression that Marti made the belts for a while now...is the '66 version different than the '65?
Anything that Marti makes is topps with me, and very acurate.

Hi, These radios are unique to 1966 Mustangs (an option) the dash hole IS larger to accept this radio in the '66s that came from the factory with them, they were also STEREO and had (again unique) speakers in the lower front metal area of the doors for them.
The one you have looks great and complete and either a fine example of an original or a restored one.
To the right buyer of a '66 that needs one for their restoration (or may be someone who wants to cut their dash a bit on '66 I've seen these in working order bring over $700. you might try & get it to work/play before you offer it up for sale. NICE UNIT!!!

May be Tony Gregory's Hipo book? may be some pictures of other members cars?

Sounds like a plan!! I didn't realize that Jack at Dead Nuts On had the outer sleeve available.
Jack sure does some great stuff for us all for sure!!

Thanks for the picture!! My car is Dearborn built.....wonder if it should be the same??

July 27 1965 scheduled build date.

Where exactly does this sticker go? on the door or the box itself? I have heard that it goes on the rear wall of the box itself on a slight angle as that is most likely how it was applied originally...any pics? and do I also use the regular tire sticker as well? I have heard not. Thanks!

I believe that there is a very suitable replacement cable that can be used to rebuild/restore the choke cable, I am hoping that earlyk will see this thread and share what he knows about this as he is very knoledgable on our Ks--it may be as simple as a common cable from a lawnmower.........

Interesting......so Corvettes use this valve as well......from what year to what year?
-
Yu might just be right about the color-may be its even a home brewed color called "Nightwatch Blue" after all.....still can't wrap my head around the fact someone put a RED stripe on a Blue car, and a Black top to boot....what color & style is the interior anyway??
-
I just this morning viewed the auction on this car (recorded) and all this time I thought it was RAVEN BLACK not NIGHTMIST BLUE...what an ugly combo!! (RED STRIPE) I never saw a car like that back when they were new!! never did see the interior or interior color.....and I agree that the "289Hipo" badges are a bit too far forward.....and agree that the hammer was a bit quick on this one.

Fred, You ARE the Guru of these pumps for sure!!! people that see my Kar ask where in the heck I got the correct pump and are blown away when I tell them it is THE original from my engine and how amasingly it managed to stay with the engine with all that happened during its original life, and of course the fantastic job that you did on its rebuild & restoration.

All the more reason to get a correct, acurate reproduction in the works.

Contact John at Pony Carbs and tell him you want a Hipo "clone" 4100, and you will get a very nice piece ready to run right out of the box.

Yes Bobbie--we'd love to see some pictures!! and welcome to the site!!

1965 and 1966 Mustang keys are exactly the same.
Some of the Ford line switched to the double sided keys in 1966 but not the Mustang.

Great Info!! Thanks!

My question is just how many of our rare K code Mustangs are missing their original rear ends that makes it nessessary to create a reproduction housing? unless folks are interested in using one in a Non K code so they can have a 9" for racing/performance applications.
I have heard that your housings are very nice having never seen one for myself.
I have an original 9" 1965 unit that is fully rebuilt and restored ready to bolt in and use 100% complete and I can't seem to find a buyer for it........

I don't know alot about Fairlanes but this one looks nice to me and IF it has a VIN stamped engine and trans that match the car then I'd say this was a decent buy for someone....
