Very neat!! I wasn't aware until now that any convertibles were built.

Contact P S Auto glass, they can provide correct date-coded and correct logos on new glass either clear or tinted, they did my windsheild, and roll-ups and are absolutely spot-on perfect, and great folks to do business with too!
Its good you have your original glass to work with as it is important that the logos on the replacement glass be put on the same as the originals.

I would think you should get the 1206-1 simple cap with just a "1" on it-its listed for '65-'66-I believe that is the one we put on mine.

Did any K code Mustangs-(Non-Shelbys) come with Paxtons? may be dealer installed?
-
I'm thinking that a transporter damaged the exhaust system and the owner does not know about it, and the photographer couldn't care less about it.

OK, (I hadn't noticed the lack of hood letters in the drag strip photos)
So, Dave elected during his restoration not to return the car to exactly the way it left the factory then?
Are the brighter Argent silver wheels correct then for the cars build date time frame?
I actually like the deluxe mirrors better myself and installed them on mine as well-wern't they part of a visibility package-something like that?
Again, I am absolutely NOT picking Dave's beutiful car apart-I love to read about the history on cars-espessely the amount that Dave uncovered.
I also see he is running Radial tires-I assume he drives the car a bit too?

I've come up with a couple of questions about Dave's car based on the original v/s todays pics:
It looks like in the 2 original pics at the drag strip on the bottom of page 26 that the car had the darker (charcoal) center SS wheels and it now has the brighter Argent Silver center ones??
Also the car looks like it originally had just the drivers side STANDARD outside mirror and now it has both right and left DeLuxe ones??
Just curious, NOT picking.

Just got my copy today and read the article and looked at the pics-Great, Great car for sure and all the history that Dave was able to dig up is icing on the cake!
Great job Dave!

Not to butt in on this thread but are the repros really that far off? I have repros on mine and not having an original to compare with I really don't know myself.

My carpet was obtained from Trim Parts for sure-my car is a LATE 1965 production car-again, IT fits much better but does have some issues-
-
OK, Great!!! Thanks! thats what I'll do then.
Did the gold one show up later-say in 1966 production? I think that I've seen the gold ones on several '66s...
-
Charles, Thanks as always for the info!
My car being a Late July 1965 production at Dearborn-what would it have most-likely had from the factory?
-
Mine is presently finished in a kind of natural aluminum sort of color, should it be the gold anodised (sp) like I've sen on some cars?

RECOMMENDED TEMPLATE: Sold for final sale price by seller
BuyItNow set at bin price(also post BIN if there is one for comparison)
Quotedescription here
I think there are many more cars out there that have been built with VINs from stuff like this than we know.
Someone, somewhere is going to buy the VIN off this car and get a title somehow and then either build a car from scratch or put the Vins on a car that already exists-this is the reason we often see poorly re-bodied Ks pop up from time to time.

Jim, What basis do you have to indicate that the AMK hardware is only about 80% acurate/correct? I'm curious....I thought it was known to be much better than 80%......
-
That IS funny!!! I'll bet an early Mustang never had THAT trouble!!!!

Our friend earlyk lives in Boardman, Ohio, which is also a suburb of Youngstown, wonder if he is going??

I have an excellent local home town radiator shop (Not a chain place) that offered to recore (with an original size 2 row core) in mine for right around $300. a few months back-they CAN still get a correct sized core they tell me. I'd be glad to help if I can-I'm in Florida on the east coast. Rick

I think you'll find nice, correct reproductions made by AMK products available at most Mustang parts suppliers.
