I think someone on the linked thread mentioned $8 for Jim's repro-I think I'm going to order one....anything I've seen done by Jim is top notch.

I have compaired a run-of-the-mill reproduction sticker to a known original (not real well, mind you) but one thing I did notice was the original was much more Red colored than the orangish repro....
Are Jim's repros closer to the correct Red??

I'm sure someone will post up a picture for you.
If someone on our forum doesn't have one for sale I'd strongly recomend contacting Jack at Dead Nuts On-I believe he CAN build you one from scratch that will be correct.

I'd like to know where they got the info that Ks were only built for a short period of time in 1964? I have seen these pictures somewhere before-not sure where.....
-
Yes, the rear end assembly is sold to Dave (Iowa) and will be shipped shortly-I really don't think the deal will fall through but just in case I'll keep you in mind.

OK, When I bought my later style system (from MOTIVE INDUSTRIES)it was complete with the "H" pipe and was pretty nice but lacked the correct clamps and had to be massaged a little to fit and my restorer added some welding/blueing to make it look more authentic.
I didn't realize that Waldrons was THE manufacturer of the reproduction Arvinode system....

Sounds like a good day was had by all!! Glad to see that anouther young person is interested in cars instead of what so many are interested in.

Oh Gowd.....more carpet.......I would highly recomend that you have a professional upholstery shop provide and install your carpet....there has been several threads about the fit and quality of carpet on the market.
My restorer absolutely ripped out the stuff he got from ACC and threw it in the trash (this was about 2 years ago) and he went with a set from Trim Parts that was much better but not perfect by any means-thats why I'm suggesting that you have a pro supply and install to your liking.

I thought that NPD had the exclusive on the Arvinode system?
Are the "H" pipes different from the Arvinode to the later type system?

Looks like a good time!!!! I didn't realize it got humid in IA....its sure humid here in FL right now, I actually like multi-brand car shows!!!
-
I didn't think folks were still doing that, it seemed pretty popular to do in the 80s and 90s-just pry off the standard "289" emblem and slip the Hipo badges behind it.......

Has anyone shipped anything like this via UShip?
I have no real experiance with wood but I'm going to try & find a suitable pallate this week and then go from there......
Any guess as to weight of the rear itself fully dressed??
-
Thanks guys for the replies and pics so far! I guess everyone knows that "Iowa" (Dave) is buying my rear end assembly for his K code.
I'm thinking the pallate route will be what I'll end up doing but I am concerned about having it basicly open to any kind of damage from careless handling by the shipping company....
Any idea as to how much a complete '65 unit weighs?
-
Any suggestions as to how to package it or whom to contact to transport it from Florida to Iowa 1475 miles??
-
I think it would be interesting to try & trace the car back to whom ever rebodied it and stuck it to its current misinformed owner...
-
Iowa, I sent you an Email about this.

Fred, You can't stop now you know, at least until you have rebuilt every fuel pump that needs rebuilding!! (LOL) GREAT GOING!! didn't realize you were about to do a 5th run!! Keep up the good work!!

Wow!! I just came across this old thread! wanted to say again just how much I appreciate having my 3939S done by Fred in the very first group! like others have said its ready for anouther 45 years then most of us won't care-(LOL)
People at shows ask me where I got an original 3939S pump and I tell them IT is THE original from my car/engine (289Hipo)
Quick story about my pump:(car was originally my Brother-In-Law's)(he purchased in 1972 we think) he drove from Floridas east coast to Mexico back then-(never really had any anti-freeze in the cooling system) so on the way back near San Fran, CA the timing cover corroded through and he limped into a junkyard for a replacement and all they had was one from an older 260 engine with ITS aftermarket aluminum water pump-(original pump was cast iron)so they removed the fuel pump by unbolting it and letting it hang while they replaced the timing cover then re-installed the 3939S pump, and when I removed the engine from the car back in 1985 I was the one who cut the original rubber hose with the original crimped on clamp.this is MY story & I'm stickin to it!

Thanks Charles, I came across a '65 GT in Silver Smoke Gray on Ebay from KAR, it is a July 1965 built car and I thought it was a 64 1/2 color-thats actually a very pretty color I think.
-
Isn't this color considered a "64 1/2" color? if so how long into the '65 production was it used/correct?
