I saw a real decent looking driver quality '66 "C" code coupe yesterday at a local show that had CA smog equipment still all intact-I thought I would have seen a "R" for SJ plant but it was from Dearborn "F" were cars destin for CA in fact built at Dearborn as well??

Thanks Guys!! I'm putting a small order together for Brant at VA so I'll include a spring.
-
I noticed recently in the VA Mustang catalog that a spring is available for the lower radiator hose.
I remember that most every 289 I ever had back in the day HAD a spring in the lower hose, and the reproductions don't.
I believe the spring was used to keep the hose from colapsing when pressure built up so coolant flow wouldn't be restricted.
Mt question is for those that drive their Kars:Do you run a spring or not? and will the present reproduction hoses colapse without the spring?

Dave, You might try & contact Arizona Brake & Clutch and ask if they might by chance have a pressure plate and disc for a Hipo 289-they rebuilt my ORIGINALS and they are perfect!! great folks to deal with as well.
On the flywheel I'll bet someone on here may have one for you but if not I'll bet that one of the major manufacturers would have a good aftermarket replacement available that is up to Hipo 289 specs.

Dave, I believe speaking strictly early Mustangs-first generation-'64.5-'73 that they all came from the factory with gas tanks WITH drains, if I'm wrong someone will surely correct me-so if you have an early Mustang W/O a drain I would say the tank has been replaced before.

Dave, If the 4 speed is from a small block Mustang it will bolt right in, you will need to get a speedometer cable assembly for a 4 speed car as the 3 speed will now be too short.

Yes, I think a Marcall marker would work fine.
-
Mine looked very similiar, the very best thing to do is photograph the "HP" from many different angles and use a grease marker to duplicate when you put the engine back together-there is almost always a very faint residue left for you to follow.
-
Thanks, I think that will work for him!
-
Would anyone know of where I can find a GTO website for my friend? he likes the format that is used here-he just isn't too into Mustangs-(shame on him!!) Thanks!
-
Keep on looking, that one is as bogus as they come, someone has done a real (bad) hack job on it to say the least!!
-
I was going to try & come up from Florida to the show, I took a look at the area where the show was held and knew it would be very hot in a mall parking lot with the only offer of cooling down would be going into a store in the mall and about 1200 miles I deceided to not attend.
I am originally from Maryland and thought I might visit some old friends while in the area-I don't know much about VA beach but hearing simply that "VA Beach" and a show titled "Hoofprints in the sand" one would think the show was located a bit closer to a nicer setting (on the beach)I'm sure I missed a GREAT Mustang show though.

Great stuff guys!!!! Thanks for the pics Brant! Have they been reproduced long?
-
It is my understanding that (Dearborn) used the smaller clips for the engine feed harness on the back of the brace and if the car was a convertible with POWER top they added 2 more, I haven't seen these smaller clips reproduced and the originals are a bit hard to find.
-
Dave, I've seen this happen before.....it usually is someone that comes up with a block or complete engine, posts the VIN and in the cases I've seen the car IS NOT in the registry and the person isn't involved on our site........I'm thinking that the parts involved have been removed from a destroyed K or may be even a Shelby for use in something else......
Kind of on a related note I have spoken with a Corvette interior specialist about the Mustang Convertible rear window stamping he was surprised to hear that the Mustang community was geting so anal about its cars and said the Corvette crowd had been like that for years.....

Quotedescription here
I don't like the looks of the data plate or the non-original rivits.
I don't think the car has anything near the original engine, trans or rear end for that matter-its going to be a very challenging restoration to say the least! (who the heck would paint a car Blue and add a Red interior??)

I am really wondering about this for my July 1965 Dearborn K-I don't like the cable just hanging there loose......
-
Marv has these, thats where I got mine.
-
It is my understanding that this clip is the same as the one used on the RF area of the radiator support for the parking light wireing-is this in fact correct? and should a July 1965 Dearborn car have one for the choke?
