I have seen some early convertibles with a rubber pad on the dimmer switch, wondering if they (mine) should have one to be concours correct?
-
I need 2 1965 Wiper Blades, rubber inserts unimportant, looking for a nice set of used ones, again from a 1965 which are polished and are mostly flat as opposed to the repros which are kind of rounded.
I am not 100% sure if they have "TRICO" on them or not, but the originals were made by Trico.
-
I did mine earlier this month even with tight times and being unemployed again.

Blade retainers Charles.
I have looked some more and it "looks like" Scott Drake offers the polished ones.... anybody know??
I do have the correct arms on my Kar, just would like to get/have the correct polished blade retainers.
-
Got it!! Thanks again Charles!

It has been pointed out to me recently that the '65s had polished wiper blades, I am seeing only satin finish available in the catalogs.
Can the satin ones be polished or can anyone tell me where I could get a set of polished blades?

You can wiggle the tabs back straight with a flat tip screwdriver. You may decide to just replace them though. We've been finding what appears to be originals dipped in black paint before installation.
Thanks Charles!! If I go ahead and replace the locks what would you recomend to reproduce the "dipped" look in something that won't burn off with the type of heat that the manifolds will see.

Fred and Charles, Thanks!! so should I be putting some pressure downwards at the same time, up until now I've just been unscrewing the screw w/o any pressure and they just seem to back out w/o the clamp itself loosening.
-
Is there some sort of trick used to remove/loosen these? I remember basicly destroying them in the old days then replacing with band style clamps sometimes destroying the hoses in the process.
I need to replace my tower clamps but do not want to destroy the hoses now, I certainly can unscrew the clamps but they most always stay tight.

thats a job, you have to remove the exhaust h pipe and then try not to scratch the car. I would use some steel wool and metal prep and then oil
What is "metal prep" and where can I buy it?

Any suggestions as to how to best bend the tabs away from the bolt heads while engine is IN the car?
I need to replace mine that have started to get a bit ugly, also would I be right in shooting some high heat clear paint on the new ones before installing to try & preserve them? Thanks!

Very Cool!!!! Anouther run in the offing!!!!!
Fred, Do you do any type of advertising? or is it just word of mouth from folks on the websites that you frequent? just curious.
-
Can we spell bad economy? a couple of other auto-related sites I frequent have gone away......
-
Yea, Keep them big hoops off the early Mustang!!!!!
-
I wouldn't have thought that there would be any connection between Canada and England......may be you should check with your credit card folks and see if by chance there is some type of fraud involved?
-
The Dead Nuts On stuff is very nice, but it comes longer than you need to do a Mustang.
Jack is/was working with Charles on getting measurements and pictures of correct routing of the hoses from a known original car that he has access to but the car is a ways from him right now and won't be back for some time so he can do it-thats why I asked for help here.
Do you have any recent shots of your engine bay area after the restoration?
-
This does help, Thanks!
Is the washer hose setup the original? or has it been replaced? it looks newer in the pictures....
Also noticed the placement of the shock tower decal/sticker....its been installed vertically and most are horizontal....which plant is your car from??

I just did my yearly donation to our GREAT site!!

I recently bought from Jack at Dead Nuts On the very correct reproduction Windsheild Washer hose set for my '65.
(BTW: If anyone wants a kit you'll have to call, as they are not yet listed on Jack's website)
My question is CAN someone with a KNOWN ORIGINAL, UNMOLESTED car photograph the installation & routing of the hoses, and measure them so the reproductions can be correctly installed?
