This kind of non-sense BS of selling little pieces at stupid prices is going to make people start parting cars out instead of selling them whole

Heck, I might just go grab a case of rice, hops, wheat & barely and break out with the air tools. I could make $50k in a night parting the car out. Sad state of affairs we are living in these days X(

Charles I expected an educated reply from you. But I thought there was a reason I didn't use DOT 5 silicone fluid...wish I could remember what it was.

I did use DOT 3 Prestone Fluid which the label says is now silicone also. It must be, because I dripped some on the gear box and it didn't eat off the paint.

But the master still rusted in random spots, and most cars I look at have the whole thing a solid block of rust when the rest of the car is perfect. I only painted mine with clear engine paint. Not catalyzed paint, as I wanted the cast iron look since i have a dual master. I have since repainted with Eastwood cast iron and so far so good.

Boy good luck with this one...I look forward to the responses.

I know people that have go as far as to have them ceramic coated (disassembled first) for show cars and they still RUST!

I have a set of kids water color paint brushes I keep around. I just touch up the cast iron when it rusts near the cap with the manifold paint I painted the M/C with. Eastwood has this stuff you rub on bare cast iron to make it look new again also.

Like I said, this one has my interest up. I have been able to keep the calipers looking new, but the master, for some reason, likes to rust. It was BRAND NEW from a box when I installed it too.

No way...A Holley carb that is hard to start hot? <

    sarcasim.

Anyhow, most likely the Powervalve leaking. It's in the Primary metering block. Make sure you get one with the right vacuum rating for a K engine.

I would do the accelerator pump too while I have it off.

Cool, thanks! I actually saw that car a few years ago when I was there for a National MCA show. The story goes that the guy that bought it new waited for the warranty to run out and then went to Ford and bought a bunch of go-fast parts for the car and did some SCCA-type stuff.

There was an article in some magazine recently about the car too, and if I remember right, he was invited by Ford to one of the 100th anniversary events. Had his pic taken with Lee Iacocca, et al.

That must be the same car. It has a Cobra intake and a 715cfm carb on it. Looks like it has repop valve covers though (Cobra).

I don't know if you talked with the owner, but he's not very personable. Sort of rude and stand-offish. Usually leaves a car show or cruise early when more than 3 Mustangs show up.

On a plus though, the car was great for reference last year when I was doing mine :D He brings it our a lot, just not for very long?

FYI: Today at a local cruise night there was an April 22, 1965 built original owner, unrestored, A-Code GT Coupe. 38,000 miles. Red, w/red Pony interior.

It had a short hold down clamp, with a tab, holding in a 24F Autolite battery, and it was installed correctly. Tab to the battery and down.

Just one more car for your info log Charles. ;)

As a side note, there was also the ugliest 66 GT Coupe I have ever seen. Painted PINK. It was the special order Playboy pink from 67. NOt original to this car. It had Bench seat/auto/GT. For Sale...ASKING $25,000?!?! About a $17k car IMO.

Isn't the clamp in the pic above installed upside down and backwards?

Yep! Just like most of them I see on the showfield! :)

Glad you cleared that up...I, by chance, installed mine the right way, when I seen the above pic I was ready to undo it =O
