Darrell, FWIW I currently have a 67 hipo engine broke down. I believe too, that it was an over the counter replacement or "service" block. It has no stamped V.I.N. (none that I can find). I've traced it's history back into the late 80's (last machining) and when I purchased it, it came with all correct date coded parts. This would lead me to assume that it was a unmolested motor, that is the pieces were kept together. The crankshaft does not have a brinnel test mark. It's a 1M crank with several other markings, X's here and there, but no smooth rear journal. My other hipo cranks are early and have the test area clearly defined. Just for what it's worth...........

I have used Kurt in the past on some other carbs, he always did a nice job and was very up-front and friendly. Had Ulrey do my hipo carb.

Boy that brings back memories. My 65 Falcon was the same color as "teacher's pet", prairie gold. Came from the factory with a 289 2V, 4 speed BW, bench seat. Quickly replaced the 8" with a 9" and replaced the 289 2V with a 289 HP out of a wrecked 64 Hipo Fairlane. Crane heads & cam, wieand intake, hookers, short block prep by Gonzales Brothers in Dearborn, 457 gears and we were ready to rock Telegraph Road on Friday nights, those were the "good old days", street light to street light.

I'm still looking for a replacement thermactor head dated near 6M22 but would be interested in a set of either.

Check item #180181568561, set of C8 crane heads on e-bay right now. Starting bid at $299 with no reserve.
-
Hipo or non-hipo. I've read several old posts in regards to this casting but not sure what the findings were. I've found one with the right date code but won't bid unless this unit was used in hipo motors. Thanks

Probably a dumb question, but, Will the C6ZE-A flywheel accept both 10 and 10 1/2 clutches
-
I sure wouldn't let $1000 seperate me from the car of my dreams, if that's what it is to you!! Wait till someone else buys it from underneath you and see how you feel! I've been there more than once, a 65GT350, Griffith, Sunbeam Tiger, Thunderbolt, missed them all because of a few $$ difference in negoitating a price. Go for it!

Finally got the mounting plate off. Tailshaft housing is C4ZR-7A040-A dated F-16. Does that help anyone telling if it's 67 or 68?

Fairlane Club of America, FCA, your best bet for anything Fairlane. It has a great website, great bunch of guys (membership)and all the information you'll need to find, restore, buy, sell, tech articles, etc. etc. Membership is quite inexpensive which includes a bi-monthly publication. As members, it has several of the most knowledgeable people you'll find, i.e. Bob Mannel, who can answer about any question you can drum up in regards to Fairlanes, 289's, just about anything 60's Ford performance. I've seen several K coded Fairlanes in the last year or so advertised on the website/publication that were complete and priced right, $9000-12,000. If your looking Fairlane, look no further than FCA.

Anyone with a 67 toploader with a serial near 011612, or any serial with a date code.
-
tag reads RUG N-1 011612
-
Tag appears unmolested, rivet, etc. I haven't been able to check the housing numbers. I have yet to remove the Hurst mounting plate. The aluminum hex bolts are being very stubborn. I've tried heat, etc. with no results, their in there really good. I'm afraid of stripping the hex.

RUG N-1 toploader tag decodes to 1967 289K close ratio. Is it possible to have a main case cast C8AR-7006-D date G3 with a 67 ID tag?

I have 1 Thermactor head dated 6M22, looking for a 2nd, although I would be interested in non-thermo heads if dated before 7B15. Just in case you come across a lone head or another set.
-
Keep an eye out on e-bay, I think a set of C8 service replacements just went in the last couple days, seems the price was very low.
-
God help the poor guy trying to piece something together! E-bay item #320175145327, madness I tell you, madness!
-
Might try D&R Driveline, Chicago Drive, Jenison, Mich. They do excellent work at a reasonable price, check with Dennis @ 616-667-1308

Looking for a single hipo head dated in the vicinity of 6M22
-
I'll start the "head hunt", seems I seen a early pair of hipo heads listed somewhere, I look at so much automotive stuff I lose track of where I saw things. I'll let you know should I come across some. Thanks!
