If you don't have any luck finding an October unit, I'm contemplating selling a 67 hipo assembly. I may part the motor out but would like to sell it together. Distributor is 6G15, pretty sure it's original to the 7B15 assembly date. I'm currently taking photos of everything for documentation.

When looking for a block back in the 80's I talked with an older gentleman from the Lansing area who owned several GT40 289 racing blocks. I believe he told me they were 4 bolt blocks. He was also selling at that time, a 65GT350 that had set some national record at the Bonneville Salt Flats, still lettered up, and never apart. He was asking some ridiculous price, like $12,500. Boy, should would like to turn back the clock!

A C3 (5 bolt) with the applicable date code will work. There was no difference between hipo/non hipo.

vacuum leak?

It's currently running on e-bay, would fit my project if it was a Feb. 4th piece, but seller states it could also be 467 which is probably more accurate, April 6th, 1967

C7 hipo exhaust manifolds with a date of 4B7, would that decode Feb. 4th, 1967? I've checked my books and seems that exhaust date codes changed every year, doesn't seem consistent, Thanks

Arriero, do you have the sequence of numbers that follow the RUG N1 on your trans? Also, what is the casting/assembly date on your block? Terry

My guess it would depend on your intentions, if you plan to keep it, paint it any color you like, if your looking for optimum resale value, keep it original.

Chuck, did you sell your cap set at Columbus? That was a steal, I should have jumped at those, but really don't need them. You had some very nice stuff, and it was nice to meet you. I almost bought a truck at the car corral, great buy, but no room at home.

I have a Dec/63.

How does one go about shipping items like engine blocks, transmissions, etc? Do you contact a freight service and have them take care of everything? Do you crate items for shipment and have them picked up? Do you drop the items off at a freight service? UPS/FEDEX?

Bob Mannel is keeper of the registry for the early hipo blocks. He has compiled a list of blocks with their assembly dates and sequential numbers. He would be the one to contact (he visits this forum often).
-
What's your assembly date? I'd reference your sequential number with the assembly date against the early known, documented, hipo blocks.

A hipo exhaust manifold with stamping of 917, Thanks

Dan Williams has been in the toploader business probably longer than any of the others. I bought parts from him back in the late 70's. He has an excellent reputation. As already mentioned, any of the aforementioned vendors would do a great job for you.

That's what I had gathered going through some of the old posts, that ALL hipo engines, with the exception of the pre-Mustang era (sequentially numbered), came with VIN'S stamped on the block and trans, "k"s and Shelbys.

I had an interesting conversation with an engine builder/restorer of rare Fords. The conversation turned to engine identification, etc. He was of the opinion that after 65 early 66 Ford did not stamp the VIN's on blocks. We were talking about 67 "K"s and Shelbys. I did a search on this forum and there's a lot of information in regards to VIN stamps. Just looking for a quick answer. BTW in his showroom is his "real" 427 AC Cobra and a 65 GT350 that had been driven by Parnelli Jones, WOW! He is also working on a Pantera, another Cobra, and a 65 A code fastback. Has a beautiful shop, could eat off the floor!

If the owner is parting anything out, I'm still looking for a 64 fairlane hipo radiator, just in case.....

If it's an original block make sure you check for the hipo sequence number, located on boss above the clutch pivot. Appears that most, if not all, early (pre-mustang) blocks had a production number.
