Trying to determine make of piston, flat top with valve reliefs, came out of 289HP shortblock. Only thing I can find on the top is the .030 and 7006P, can't seem to locate any other identifier. Thanks

Thanks for the info, fact of the matter, the balancer I plan on switching is off a motor that is minus the hatchet because he ran a gear drive instead of timing chain. I know that the assembly had been balanced without the hatchet. I will be rebalancing as it is going on the motor in my car which is balanced with the hatchet. Plan on switching a C30E for the C50E currently on my car.

Would switching from one hipo balancer to another require a complete rebalancing of the rotating assembly?

Fred, thanks for the reply. I will go ahead and use a set of the seals I have. Looks like they all clear the inner spring but will go with the narrow ones to be safe. Thanks for all the information, as always, it's much appreciated.

Well, I dug through all the junk in my garage and came up with 3 different sets. The ones that were on the heads are approx. .76 O.D. and .60 tall, the others were .86 O.D./.70 HT and .86/.42. I'm sure these all came with small block gasket sets, fellpro, etc. Are the C3OZ sets still available or a suitable substitute or will any of the above be OK??

Thanks, let me know what you have? I've checked Summit and some of the local parts houses, they all have 289 valve seals but don't list any thing specific for the hipo heads.
-
Looking for valve seals for hipo application, anyone with a manufacturer/part number etc? Thanks

price drop............$795.00

Would 6B28 heads be too early for a 6G20 block?

RUG-N1 toploader transmission, 67 close ratio. Main case C8AR-7006-D W-1 dated G31, tailshaft C4ZR-7A040-A W2 dated F-16. No VIN present. I have never had this transmission in a car. Does shift into all gears and rotates freely. $895.00

Paul, what modifications have been made to the 6M heads? Thanks

His passing was certainly a shock, I just found out when I received the new Fairlaner. I had 2 carbs restored by him, finally getting a chance to meet and talk with him at the Columbus Show last year. We lost a great guy.

Right, I was referring to the fact that the "k" coded Comets were not the hipo versions, either A or D or no designation at all.
-
I don't think that any of the hipo Comets were K codes. They are quite rare. I've read that they were A code, a few D code, and some with deleted digits (engine codes). About the only sure way to know is with the original build sheet which notes the "289 high performance option"

$3000 Is a steal, might want to list it at
http://www.fairlaneclubofamerica.com wish you were closer as well, that's a great buy. I can post it for you if you don't want to register.
