Hi
I do not think it is a hipo 289 Comet Cyclone it should have the shock tower to firewall brace should be bolt on not welded. All 64 Comet Cyclone came with a K in the vin but that is a 289 210hp with a 4v carb.

When you use performance pads and brake shoes they wear out your drums and rotors faster. Make sure you replace and bleed your brakes
real good.

If you have the jack stands on the rear end tubes and your leaf springs are flat you need new leaf springs. Check to make sure that the welds did not break on the suports on the axle tube for the leaf spring center pin. If the welds broke that will cause the rear end to
rotate upwards to the floor pan.

The intake gasket is made to leak coolant and drips on the timing cover when the car is sitting do to the temp changing . To stop that from doing it put a little gasket sealer on the gasket. When you look at the gasket you will see the thin cut out lines in the gasket by the hole for the front intake bolt.

Two things to check. It could be the cable in the shifter they stretch. Set parking brake put shifter in netural go under the car
and check you shifter gate adjustment. If it is adjusted right (not sure if it a 1/4 or 3/8 drill bit ) the end of the drill bit should
slide in and out of gate with ease.

Did you put a vacuum gauge on it? What kind of coil are you running on the car.

I am running Holly 715 cfm and has #68 jets and runs fine with them.
70 are to rich, Take a can of carb cleaner and spray around base of carb and intake if the rpm go up then you have a leak.

Make sure that carb vents tubes are not blocked when you put the air cleaner lid on. Take your air cleaner lid off and leave air filter on carb bend down and look over top of air cleaner and make sure the tubes are below the top of air cleaner.
Check your fuel inricment adjustment screws are set right. Turn screw all the way in and back it out about 1 1/2 turns with air clear lid on.
