The light on the clock is dimmer on the originals; it's the way they are.

I am going to be detailing the rear end of my car and dropping the rear axle out. I would like to clean up the leaf springs, shackles & all the hardware. Can anyone offer recommendations on the parts to use for leaf spring overhaul? I am not going to mess with re-arching, but I want to change out the pads and the other bits that hold the springs together. Any other tips on the rear end or springs are welcome.

Time for the old presto-changeo; swap out the pics and keep everyone guessing.

Now that you mention it, a dropped tailshft would be just about right. Ouch. The new look is better; billet & boom box delete.

OK, I have to ask; how did they get that dent next to the VIN?

I think the reference to the short bend is what we also refer to as the angle. There are only two styles angle or curved. Interesting that the picture shows the angle and the chrome bezel. Also note that there are the correct 4 exposed bellows above the chrome ring. It seems like many people only install the ring to show 3 bellows.

Talk about a detour!
Cchesley if the manifolds above don't pan out let me know, I think have one but I'll have to get into storage to look.

A radio suppressor is a capacitor, a simple storage device for electricity, and the wire that goes to it should either be hot with the key on or hot all the time depending on how it is configured. It is different from a battery in that it will only provide a short burst of electricity when required. Do you have a wiring schematic?

Particularly high given the money that will have to go into the car to compliment the "survivor" grade parts.

Ditto the experience on the nuts. Too large for the stock screws.

Deryl,
I have a spare. I can bring it down to Sac this weekend if you're going to be there. If not, I'll mail it to you. It will need some clean-up but it's original.

I have a hunch that the .030 or so won't be an issue unless you're a thouroughbred judge.

It helps if you have the Osborn Assembly manuals; they list the fastener part numbers. Then you cross reference against the AMK Ford Fastener guide and it will tell you what the fastener was and list the finish code. Then you go to AMK's current catalog and see if they list the part number as an available item. If not, it's no longer reproduced by AMK. Then you're stuck and you go the wrecking yard, ask around, or go find NOS. Minimum order from AMK is something like $25, which is easy to do if you are chasing the correct fasteners. Be careful with some of the bolts as there were differences by assembly plant.

Offset snap ring pliers will also work if you have them handy.

They sell the correct nuts and washers, you just need the bulk part numbers. Nut shown below. Washers are B12998. Image courtesy of AMK web site.

Is that blue tape in the upper left data plate shot? Oil pan - ouch.
I do like that exterior color. It's a little sad they didn't have more information to guide their restoration efforts, but a nice car for someone who wants a driver that needs work.

They are available from AMK in their bulk section.

Bo,
I researched this last year and it seems that there is a bit of debate over when the change actually took place in production, and with each plant. Bill Heeley, the shifter rebuilder in Maryland, told me that he felt the most accurate source of information was from the fellow that owns Paradise Wheels (can't remember his name now - is that Jim Cowles?). Bill said that the change occured sometime around the end of 64 or early 65, and that all the Shelby folks were buying up the early angle handles he had left. I'm not sure how much of this information is legend or fact, but it might help put you on the right track. I do know that the angle handles are less common than the bent version. Bill does a nice job of rebuilding the handles. If you call him he will share information gladly: (301) 774-6710.
One of the MCA judges can probably give you more accurate info.

I am particularly fond of the part about the tires holding air! VIN does look worked around the middle. How about the other 2 VINs? If he really wants to attract buyers he might want to unbolt the venders and show the other VINs.

I am looking for left & right early style push-on interior door latch mechanisms, preferrably NOS, but good used would be fine. Also new or good used handles. Please PM - Thanks.
