Before you disassemble the motor you ought to fully explore the cooling system including flow testing the radiator at a professional radiator shop equipped with a flow tester. If the car has a blown head gasket there will likely be other tell-tale signs like coolant in the oil, or steam from the tailpipe. If you are convinced it is a head gasket you might want to confirm it with a leak-down test prior to disassembly.

Michael,
Did you change over to SS wheels?
-
Probably was an early replacement valence. Ford supplied a template for shops to cut out the back-up light holes for the early cars that weren't ordered with the reverse light option.

Beautiful; hopefully it will end up in the hands of someone who will show it from time to time. Is it possible that these are part of the modifications that took place while the car was used in the school?: Fram oil filter, non-hipo fuel pump, zerk fittings on tie rods (it is likely they were wearing them out too fast), aftermarket strut rod bushings & hardware? Did Ford use a square-hole leaf spring clip or are they AMK repros? Nonetheless, cool car and a wonderful piece of history. There will likely be a lot of scrutiny of the car by SAAC folks and other Shelby owners who will comment on authenticity. With the car's provenance it certainly is a neat machine.

To those who have inquired about the plugs; please let me check them tomorrow evening as I am out of town at a car show today. If I recall they are not early star plugs, but I can't remember because they've been sitting around for so long.

I have an extra set of BF32 plugs if anyone is interested. I bought them some time ago and paid $50 and would like to get that for them now. Thanks.

I am looking for a hipo damper bolt. AMK does not have them and I would like to find an original - no washer needed, just the bolt.

Another non-K with badges.

Shouldn't that model have a Shelby American VIN plate on the left front? It looks like there are rivet holes but no plate. Maybe they didn't have time?

It is refreshing to find honest sellers who will respond positively to your comments.

It looks like rear main is a standard 289, threaded main bolts with holes are for windage tray.

Looks likes the undercarriage was detailed with a rattle can. What's the deal with the old dead cat shield; is it for a different transmission?
-
I matters to the fellows with aluminum intakes.

Does anyone have a source for original style sway bar bushings? I bought some from NAPA and they didn't fit well at all; big gap cut in one side. NOS would be great if I could find them, but no luck so far. Thanks.

See you all there.

Mark - try getting a look at a Victor set. I think they're black, but can't remember - NAPA.

James is correct. I ordered wavy washers from AMK that were close with the hope that they could be drilled to the appropriate inside diameter and they were too thick and stiff. I also tried some metric wavy washers and they were too thick also. I've dug around in junkyards and it seems they are the first parts dropped on the ground by the yardbirds when the trans or motor is pulled. If anyone has a solution for this I'd welcome hearing about it.
