Noticed that too; very odd.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but I'm doing reasearch and want to look at unrestored original 65 SJ hipos with toploaders, which is why I'm hoping to find someone with that particular plant and driveline.

Your info is helpful. A code would have had regular exhaust. Thanks.

Looking for a 65 hipo equalizer, used or NOS. Thanks.
-
Has anyone with a 65 been able to document original driveshaft markings? I'm looking for some photographs with examples of San Jose cars if anyone has any. I have found the faint outline of one and possibly two stripes in the center of my driveshaft, but the shaft was cleaned by the PO and I don't know if there were only two, or three, or what color(s) they were.

Did this car have a tri-power on it the last time it was for sale?
-
Would this be the same car that has been offered for sale to a fellow in Australia?
-
Interesting to note that the seller has zero feedback as do two of the more aggressive bidders. Repro door plate tailored to match the incorrect driveline, no visible hipo parts, ugh.

I have dealt with the seller of this item and found them to be reputable.
On another ebay note unrelated to this auction, I sold some items recently on ebay and they are allowing certain buyers to keep their feedback "private". Kind of goes against the conceptual grain of full disclosure.

Yes the car wil require work, but I agree with Fred about it being a good project car. There aren't going to be any fastbacks available for $26K that are restored; they will all require a lot work. There are also four days left on the auction and the car appears to be heading higher.

Still in need of horns and a coil. Thanks.

If anyone has a Hansen rivet tool for 64-66 grille and vent wing rivets they want to sell please let me know. Thanks.

Quote from BoS
I am as crazy as you are
on date codes. Have created a spread sheet with all dates
that relates to my car and it's various parts, sheet metal and
others.
Take comfort in knowing you are not alone in your insanity! My engine assembly date was 12/17/64 with a scheduled build date of 12/30/64.

Are there any companies doing steering wheel restorations?
-
Jim - thanks for the help with the part numbers. My car came with a service part three row and I was able to find a correct 2 row so I am putting it back together now and was unsure of the fasteners. The picture of the original 66 above are on a car that Ron Bramlett has owned for many years and he is the second owner.

This detail shot is from an unrestored 66 K coupe. Since I started this post I was able to look at the 18 cars that were at the Mustangs Plus K day and this was the prevalent detail among the unrestored cars. Looks like this is also consistent with Jim's part numbers. I couldn't find anything in the assembly manuals either.

Original bumpers are date coded on the underside. If you want authenticity you might want to go that route and seek out referrals to a good chrome shop.

Wanted:
good used yellow top coil (Please, no second mortgage NOS.)
65 horns - good physical shape as rebuildable cores

I believe the car has a black undercarriage and the body color that is visible is overspray as it would have been originally.
